Johnson's Country Cookin' — Restaurant in Melbourne

EDITED: Since my last review, we have visited twice. I must give a much different review. Our experience both times since my initial dine in is complete opposite of the first. Our food was excellent and our servers were super friendly. They truly have the best food around in my opinion.. I would recommend trying them out if you haven't and I definitely recommend giving a place a second chance. We just never know what's going on when we try a new place and I feel like everyone has bad days sometimes..

I had high hopes for this place as I've yet to find a great place to eat close by since moving from TX. I've heard outstanding reviews from others so we decided to give it a try today. We got there about 10 minutes before they stopped serving breakfast and started serving lunch. I was happy to wait until 10:25 when they began cooking lunch. The waitress was super friendly and took our order after the cook said we could go ahead and order lunch. Approximately 40 minutes later we get our sandwiches, but I'm missing the fries I ordered. The waitress brings out some fries right away.. We attempted to just let the extended wait time go as everyone has off days or things happen..the burger my husband ordered and chicken sandwich I ordered were really good. The fries tasted great and fresh.. But, my husband had to ask for a refill on his drink. Additionally, we ordered dessert, but never got it. We asked for our dessert to just be boxed up to take home as we checked out. Nobody apologized that we didn't get our dessert nor was it even offered to be taken off the ticket. I do think we will try this place again and hope for better service. It just felt very odd.. it almost felt like the locals were treated differently than those who aren't local. Maybe that's normal for small towns. .. I'm not sure. Overall, if it weren't for the fact our food took 30+ minutes after ordering, my husband had to ask for a refill, my fries weren't on my plate initially, and our dessert never came, we'd rate this...

Went here with family for lunch, and it was a very confusing experience.

When we entered, none of the servers spoke to us as they walked past. They all looked at us, and kept walking. Finally one walked up and said, “Just two?”. I said yes and she walked away with two menus in her hand. We stood there for a second not sure if we follow or not. We finally proceeded and followed her to a table where people were already sitting. We stood there for a second and then noticed the menus weren’t in her hand anymore, so then we had to look around for where she put them. After finding our table, the waitress didn’t really come by except for to take our order and deliver the food. The restaurant wasn’t even full/busy. Apart from that, all interaction was none. We also ordered salads, and the quality wasn’t the best. I wouldn’t recommend them. When we went to pay, the girl at the counter was equally cold. Only question asked was, “do you want to leave a tip?”. There wasn’t any ‘thank you’ or ‘have a nice day’.

I understand about having off days, but the attitude was with everyone that worked there. We felt awkward to say the least. I don’t know if I would recommend this restaurant based on...

Normally don't say anything, but can't let tonight's experience not be voiced.....when seated at 6:45 pm, did not receive our food until 8:15 pm...apologies from the waitress half heartedly for some issue or another. She came an hour later to offer free dessert. Do to whatever the problem was. Still waited 30 more minutes before receiving our food. I had salmon, will say it was delicious. However it can with badly burnt sweet potato fries. 4 thinly sliced partly grilled yellow squash. My husband had chicken fried steak, tasted and felt like battered potted meat. And was extremely hot with pepper. They did not even give him butter for his potato until after requesting it a second time, by then it was cold. We paid $45 for a poorly cooked supper, an hour and a half later. We were the last people there. Very disappointed. Nearly felt like we shouldn't even of had to pay. Or at least only 1/2 price since the salmon was nearly all we ate. Will...
