⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ True Texas BBQ – A Hidden Gem in H-E-B Melissa
Don’t let the grocery store location fool you—True Texas BBQ at H-E-B Melissa serves up some of the most legit barbecue in North Texas. Whether you’re a brisket purist or just looking for a solid plate of smoky comfort food, this place delivers in a big way.
First off, the brisket is exactly what Texas BBQ should be: beautifully barked, tender without falling apart, and bursting with deep, smoky flavor. You can tell it’s been tended to with care—juicy, rich, and seasoned just right. Every slice had that perfect balance of fat and meat, and it practically melted in my mouth.
Surprisingly, the turkey might’ve been the sleeper hit of the meal. It was shockingly moist, with a subtle smoky flavor that elevated it far above your average BBQ turkey. It’s rare to find poultry this juicy and flavorful at any BBQ joint, let alone one inside a grocery store. I’d come back for the turkey alone.
As for the service—nothing but praise. The staff here are genuinely friendly, efficient, and clearly take pride in what they do. They walked me through the menu, offered great suggestions, and treated every customer like a regular. Even during the lunch rush, they moved quickly without ever seeming rushed.
In short, True Texas BBQ at H-E-B Melissa is the real deal. Whether you’re picking up a quick lunch or feeding the family, you’re getting authentic, high-quality Texas BBQ with small-town hospitality. Don’t sleep on this spot—it’s a gem hiding in...
Read moreThis was an expensive lesson and truly disappointing given the quality of HEB. The service was awesome and the staff was a pleasure to work with, HOWEVER the food drove this rating. I should have posted some other pictures but opted not to.
The "turkey" is not conventional smoked turkey, the meat is a processed product (from turkey) but when we arrived home it was clear that this was turkey meat like you get at the deli for sandwiches and DID NOT taste very well. I think they should be stating that this is NOT true, off-the bone smoked turkey.
The meat was okay, tastey but nothing to shout out about.
We purchased what should have fed FOUR people, and you can see the portions of the sides we received. We had to wait for the sweet tea as there was none on the shelves. We received no bread from our order. While staff was super polite, the teamship was lacking and operations seemed a bit broken/chaotic.
The area was somewhat clean, a lot of flys on the day we were there, the seating areas were "new" buit not very clean/maintained.
I would not recommend this location based on my observations and the quality of the product received versus the cost we paid. And understand, I have no problem paying a strong price, but I expect a strong product and value in return, this was...
Read moreThe staff that worked Saturday night need to be retrained and have a chat with health services and their boss. First a sandwich was missing, no biggie it happens. But she was rude as could be about it, no apology, just snapped at me. Not sure how I'm wrong for wanting the sandwich I paid for? Then she brings it out, it was supposed to be a plain brisket sandwich, no onions or pickles. I told her that, then no joke she lifts the bun , pulls off the toppings with her hands and hands me the sandwich and says "there is that better". She did this right at our table. SERIOUSLY what standard is that!? Not only was that beyond unprofessional and rude, what if my kid was allergic to either items and thats why we had them off in the original order!? No apology, no basic bare minimum customer service, just straight up rude employees. The entire restaurant could hear the girls laughing and screaming from the kitchen the entire times. So I guess it was party night for the crew and the customers had to just deal with it. I thought HEB had higher standards,...
