Memphis Toast — Restaurant in Memphis

Memphis Toast has soo much potential! & I pray they reach it. HOWEVER, to do so, I sincerely think they will need to make some adjustments in staff most importantly and presentation. I will not complain about the price of anything however I will say if they desire to stay at those prices the presentation (from the employees down to the plastic ware needs to justify the price).

Went today. First and more than likely last time. We arrived around 1:25 and we were seated immediately. Thankful for that however, we ended up being privy to conversations that no customer wants to hear such as: “why are yall still seating ppl” “idc im leaving, im not staying here all day…we close @ 2” Granted I’ve never WORKED in a restaurant but i visit many and when the closing time is 2 that doesn’t mean employees are in their cars and headed out @ 2:05. Typically it just means your day is nearing an end. Brittany took our order and came back only to bring the food. I literally thought she had left. Another young lady had to retake out drink order and give us drinks; another lady gave me plastic ware. The chef came out on the restaurant floor and reminded a waitress of how she instructed her not to take another order, as the waitress tried to explain that the party had been there for a period of time and unfortunately had been looked over, the chef disregarded the waitress and began to persuade the party to leave smh It was very sad to see and unprofessional. I guess it was during that time that my chicken was cooking bc my chicken and waffles dish was extremely lackluster! I was questioning the doneness of the tenders in places and in other places it was clear that it was just over cooked & the waffle was blah. A semi sweet waffle, def not Belgium! We also ordered a “sammich” and needless to say it gave sammich from yo granny house amidst the struggle vibes. Give me the ingredients NOT the presentation! Total was 51.80 I was told, used a card, was not informed of the card fee so my card was charged 53.22. The waitress did not say thank yall, screw yall, nothing. There is a 18%gratuity on tickets and usually I tip outside of that however I started my day there and I was very regretful that I did that so I just gtfo they way as they clearly wanted us to do. I’ve ordered from Memphis Toast plenty of times, and they’ve consistently left items out of my order. But today? This was the final straw.

I ordered the Bond’s Classic (which comes with 2 eggs) and PAID for an extra egg with shredded cheddar. What did I get? Just the extra one I paid for. Where’s the two that come with the meal? GONE. AGAIN. There’s no point of the food being decent if I can’t get EVERYTHING I PAID FOR (especially in this current economy, I NEED ALL THAT, well you know….BECAUSE I PAID FOR IT!)

I called and a rude woman just told me to dispute it with DoorDash—no apology, no fix, no real customer service. Like be fr. DoorDash doesn’t always refund even with proof, so that’s not a solution.

I’ve been loyal through all the past mess-ups, but I’m DONE. Taking my money elsewhere. This is exactly why businesses around here fail. No accountability. No consistency. No care. And most importantly NO GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I decided to take my husband out for breakfast. I took him to a Toast. It was my second time and his first. We both have been in the culinary business combine over 50 years. Now this place has the potential to be "Great" but the food could be better. We order Mimosa price could be adjusted. Shrimp & Grits was delicious, Pancakes a plus. My husband food cold cold cold ( bacon, sausages & eggs (were liquid very cold). And we paid for extra for eggs (not real eggs) which was the same price has extra breakfast meat! He didn't want to complaint because he is former chef but I wanted to too. I asked two fried eggs medium, they came out wrong to drop of liquid. I complained about that because you not going to 3x charge me for eggs ( two eggs 2.99$)and I am not going to get the real deal.
