I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Do not waste your money on this garbage.

I would have given 0/5 if I could.

Although it was almost empty, the restaurant was very LOUD. One customer was chasing her two children around the room as they screamed, and no staff said anything. The tables and bench seats at the booths are cold metal, which made sitting there very uncomfortable, especially because the building was also cold. The weather was in the low 50's outside, despite the weather being cold and rainy. The menu is fairly small, and all the items are fairly similar. The bathroom was dirty. The waitress brought out our food and I saw her BARE hands touch both my salad, and my steak (separate plates) because of the way she held the plate. Gross.

I ordered the most expensive item on the menu, which was the ribeye, and it was completely inedible. I took 2 bites before completely giving up. I’m the polar opposite of a picky eater, if I give a restaurant a bad review, it’s generally based on service, cleanliness, or prices. I’m not picky about food, so I almost never review based on food quality as I’m not the one to judge. I don’t even bother sending food back if it comes out wrong, because I’m usually fine with it regardless. I cannot emphasize enough this was the worst meal I’ve had in my life, and that’s including the time I got food poisoning from a Mexican restaurant. At least the Mexican place managed to make the food edible.

The waitress asked how our food was, so we first told her everything we liked and what was good, then I told her my steak was terrible and I only took 2 bites. The intention of putting the positives first was to be polite, and to recognize what they did well, but she didn’t seem to care what we said positive or negative. I expected her to offer me my money back, or at least offer to replace it with something else.... she didn’t. She just said, "ok." No. It's not ok.

Attached is a picture of how much of my steak was left uneaten. Pretty much all of it, and not even an offer...

We called in our order while driving through town, the lady greeted me very nicely. At first she gave us a sweet welcoming hometown charm but towards the end of the call she rushed me off and said she had other orders that needed to get going. She was so rushed she never asked me for my name, or what kind of salad dressing I wanted. I quickly asked her for an approximate timeline and she said 20 minutes, I then followed with perfect, gps says we will get there in 13, and click. She hung up before I could finish. If it wouldn’t be for the fact that I’m starving from this super long road trip from Oregon I would’ve just chosen a different restaurant. I will note that once we picked up the order she apologized to my husband, she was the only worker in the restaurant and people were waiting for their food and getting mad. I understood, yet felt compelled to tell her get better management, or is your manager content in having you overworked? But instead I kept my mouth shut, if nothing nice to say don’t say it all. I still gave them 4 stars because my chef salad and hamburger was delicious. Although the kids corn dogs were a little burnt and their fries were not cooked right. My daughters refused to eat them, but I did not mark them less of stars for this. I understand small business need a friendly reminder that service could be better. So this is...

Man….. just keep driving. The short: Bland food, weak coffee, sloooooooooow service. We were on our way to Amarillo and needed somewhere to stop for breakfast. I wasn’t expecting anything fancy at all, just some solid diner breakfast. We ordered coffee, which took 15 minutes to come out. Coffee was super weak; like ,hot, coffee scented water level of weak. I ordered a cheese and sausage omelette (bubba’s omelette I think) with a side of gravy, and my hunny got the breakfast quesadilla. 45 minutes and one pass for a coffee refill later, we got our food. My omelette had very little filling and no seasoning. Hash browns were bland too. They call their gravy “cream gravy” but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t made with cream as it was a weird translucent greyish color. The quesadilla was stuffed better than my omelette, but definitely just as bland, and missing half of the ingredients listed on the menu. I asked for whole wheat toast and got white, but didn’t want to ask for the right toast as I didn’t know if I would get it back in a timely manner. They were obviously really short staffed. The two waitresses seemed to be really nice and paid excellent attention to the regulars. We make this trip pretty often and are always looking for good stops for food. This wasn’t it, at least not for breakfast…...

Driving on our way from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Houston, Texas: we were looking for a place to have dinner. I looked on Google, read some reviews, and we stopped at Rock Inn Cafe. We are we glad we did! Thursday nights they have half-price hamburgers and cheeseburgers... and we were tempted. However, we decided to try their chicken fried steak. They were the most delicious and well seasoned chicken fried steaks we’ve ever had. They were served with a tossed salad, home cut french fries, and a delicious bowl of gravy. We were so full from the first portion of the steak that we asked for some slices of bread and condiments to make a sandwich for tomorrow’s lunch. We are looking forward to round two tomorrow. Anyhow, we will be back when traveling this way again. PS: it was fun to drive around their old town Square after dinner. A lot of closed stores but the old buildings were fun and beautiful to look at.

Best place EVER! I got stranded in this town of 2290 people for 7 days. I had to walk a little over half a mile to this gem for food. It is amazing. Home cooked. Super friendly waitresses that after my second visit remembered my name, where I sat and brought me a sweet tea and water. They have a home cooked lunch buffet. Delicious pies. I couldn’t figure out why there were bad reviews, but I figured it out. Sorry Rock Inn, gotta keep it honest for future guests. Everything I had was delicious except the brisket. If you want BBQ, stick to the sausage. If you want home cooked pork chops, chicken fried steak, thick ranch dressing, fried catfish and shrimp, potatoe salad, eggs and bacon, chicken quesadillas, green beans with real bacon in em, dinner rolls, corn bread, bacon cheeseburgers, fries with ranch dressing PERFECTION 😍
