Twenty minutes to close I called to make sure we could be served. Bar tender said “come on in we will serve you”. We walked in and, it’s our first time here so we aren’t sure, so I asked if we just seat ourselves and bar tender says to just pick our seat and we will be waited on. So it’s a very laid back atmosphere. It was ten pm so only a few college kids were there. Waiter (I’m guessing was a manager or proprietor) was prompt to wait on us and very kind. We’d immediately had been served chips and salsa that my husband could have drank he loved it so much! Both were so fresh and chips were warm. A very sweet lady got us two horchatas that was the perfect choice to go with our food. My husband ordered a burrito that was ginormous, three tacos de asada. I ordered the (you pick two)combo with cheese enchilada and chicken tostada that came with rice and beans. The portions were great and the flavor was nothing less than authentic. This was a meal my mom, aunts and I would make at home for the family. Being so far from home in Chicago where you can find authentic so easily, we got so lucky this restaurant was so close and my first choice. The price was incredible and the portions were amazing so we are now loyal customers. We just plan to go a little earlier next time to beat the quickly built college crowd. Over all we are so incredibly happy and look forward to trying out the...
Read moreparty of 8, called a few days before to let them know we had a larger group. we took my dad here for Father's Day and it was ok. our server seemed pretty rushed and didn't give us much time to try to order a second drink. he only took a couple of our drink orders at a time, then would run off before the rest of us could request a refill. we felt bad for bothering him so often and wished he had asked if we needed refills, rather than us having to quickly order a drink when he came by with more chips or the previous drink orders.
the food... I mean, it was good. I was definitely expecting a little more, given all the other reviews. I had the Enchiladas de Mesa. definitely thought it came with rice AND beans but I could have misread it. the rice was fine but seemed kinda crusty, like I got the rice that was stuck to the side of the pan. the enchiladas were pretty good but the sauce tasted like spaghetti sauce, so that was an odd surprise.
the drinks... my sister and her friend thought the margaritas were a bit too strong, my brother's bloody Mary was not well mixed, and my Bahama mama didn't have much flavor. however, my piña colada was super good and my friend really liked her peach long island.
all in all, food was ok. drinks were ok. service was ok. little pricey for...
Read moreI was at this establishment today ( I ordered carryout from the hospital and picked up my food) while I was picking up my food, my husband decided he wanted to go in for a Margerita. So I used my credit card and had 2 receipts to sign. 1 for takeout and 1 for Margeritas. One was 17.+ and the other was 21.+. I got home looking at my bank account and Cancun charged me 21.+ and 25.+. It states right on my bank account what the adjustments were. It always shows adjustments if I add a tip any other time. I called the manager and the only way they would help me is if I had the receipt number. I left my copy on the bar with my signed copy because I have never had this happen before. I could fight this im sure with my credit card company but I am self employed and I just don't have the time over the 8 or 9 bucks I'd get back. So I thought I could at least inform the public so they are aware of this practice this establishment is...
