Just awful. Do yourself a favor and pass this place by. We had eaten here twice prior since their opening, both times we went early and service was slow and they got our meals wrong. But they did fix them and the sushi and Chinese food were both fairly good. So we decided to give it another try. We went at 5pm today and they had more people than when we went before but still not packed by any means. Some members of our party had Chinese food and others sushi. The Chinese food came out first while the Japanese food was no where to be found. My husband had a fish filet dish with a microscopic piece of fish and mostly celery and some veggies. Nothing special for a very high price of over 20 bucks. The other members of the party got more Americanized Chinese food - but still was not well prepared and sub par compared to a standard neighborhood take out kitchen. Not acceptable at these prices. My beef Pho soup was like drinking a bowl of dishwater with three grizzly inedible pieces of beef. In lieu of noodles I asked for mixed veggies. I got a bowl full of bean sprouts. Then I complained and asked for steamed veggies. After 15 mins they came out and we were billed $14.95 for veggies which only after arguing did they remove when the bill came. My son has food allergies and asked for a few maki rolls with some basic ingredients and for some nigiri sushi. Only a a few nigiri pieces came out (mostly wrong) and when we were all done eating, they brought his Maki rolls again all wrong. The problem here is the wait staff has a complete lack of understanding of English - and they just could not understand what we were saying. Also I asked for some smoked salmon and octopus but as sashimi instead of sushi - no rice. They brought me out plates with 6 or 7 pieces of both (of inferior quality)and costing in the neighborhood of $19 each. Ridiculous. And the quality of fish was no better than supermarket sushi. When we complained no one understood. We finally asked for the bill and were billed for things we never got, again painfully we tried to explain what had to be removed. Even after crediting us for what we didn’t get, the bill was still over $200 bucks for 5 people with no alcohol - and one person failed to get 90% of their food. And two people ate sesame chicken and teriyaki chicken, so cheap dishes with chicken thighs. Horrible service, low quality food and exorbitantly high prices make this place a horrifying dining disaster. Do yourself a favor and drive by this place to other Asian offerings in the area. We will never set foot in this...
Read moreI went a bit crazy this time at House of Noodles & Sushi in Merrimack. I know I already love the place by a warm greeting from the host. 😋 It was Friday’s night and justt me in the restaurant. Service is exceptional and the foods are devine. I dare you to try this place out. It is very tradition and authentic Si-Shuan&Fu-jian style from China. I think i justt became their regular. 😂
Here what I had:
From the cold dishes: 🧊 -Jelly fish: lightly seasoned and on the sweet side. The crunchiness texture had shown the well prepared jellyfish before mixed with dressing. -Shredded pig ears: Tender and addicting. The dressing is on the spicy side. It is Si-Shaun chili from what I taste. The spicy is just a little kick that compliments the tenderness of pig ears.
From the Dim-Sum dishes: 🥟 -Chicken feet in black bean sauce: tender, fall of the bone, and fork splitting. Classic flavor of sweet and savory. (I was not here for Dim-sum but can’t help it to order 😆) I love eating chicken feet.
From the seafood dishes: 🦐 🐟 -Fish soup in pickles mustard green: This soup is very traditional and the chef nailed it. Creamy broth with the sour of pickle mustard green and elevate with fresh sliced of fish are completely complimented eachother. The soup clean the palette before the next dish. (I am not sure if it is a sea bass or not, I didn’t ask but it was very good)
From the beef dishes: 🥩 Dried Ma-la: Ma-la is a spicy base ingredient consisting of chilies, beef tallow, bay leaves, star anise, peppercorns, and some other spice that we can’t find it in NH. It is very popular in Fu-Jian.
The best part is lotus root and lamb, combined with other vegetables and black ear mushrooms.
The flavors are spicy and savory at the same time. Beware of your tongue numbness after tasting the dish. It is 🥵 but also addicting 😂. I couldn’t stop eating it.
My meals come with 2 white rice. I saved room for more food.
There are many choices that I like to try. Until next time.
They have classic New England Chinese food on the menu as well. Don’t be alarmed. I just...
Read moreMajor disappointment. Their a la carte selections were all overpriced and of disappointing quality. Their electronic tablet menu was ridiculously long and difficult to navigate and you cannot select items on the menu to order, so I had to resort to using the notes app on my phone to write down our items, and then wait for the server to appear so he could then enter our items onto his tablet (which had the same ridiculously long and complicated menu) but his tablet was apparently connected to a point of service station to the kitchen. Oh, and after spending far too much time to record our items on my phone to read them back to our waiter, he then informed me that several items were not available, (couldn’t they keep their menu tablets updated?), so he had to leave to give us more time to figure out what to order besides what we just learned were unavailable. Upon his return, we were again informed that another item we wanted was not available, but at this point we were probably there more than a half hour, so we told him to just put in what we had identified that was available- ugh. When our food arrived, outside of the hot and sour soup everything was of mediocre to poor quality. A $20 soft shell crab hand roll was absolutely inedible- it tasted bad and its seaweed wrap was covered with some sketchy oil- not cool. I am giving them two stars instead of one for atmosphere only because they haven’t made the place any better or worse than it was when it was Zhong’s- most of the stuff in there was same as it was as Zhong’s. We (two people) paid more than $120 for a small variety of overpriced a la carte items and a couple of soups- no alcohol. Value for money was terrible, quality was disappointing and we will not be returning- there are far better choices in our area from...
