Tortilla Flat — Restaurant in Merrimack

We met some of our family here last night. They are temporarily in Merrimack for a few weeks so we decided to try tortilla flat since it is right in town. We called ahead the day prior to coming because we had a table of 8. The woman who answered took my name and amount of people to “give the host a heads up”. My two children and I were the first to arrive, the host had no clue we were coming and scrambled to get a table for us. We were sat, and given menus. The rest of our party arrived and our drink order was taken. It took about 35/40 minutes to get a round of non- alcoholic drinks, when the waitress came out she laughed as she shared with us why it took so long to get the drinks. They had to wait for the dishwasher to finish, not a huge deal to us. But instead of taking our food order and getting that in. She waited until the drinks came out, and then took our order. She put our food in and then disappeared for about an hour while we sat with zero refills on our drinks or chips/salsa. She finally came back and we had to ask and she zipped by where our food was. She then replied “do you want me to be completely honest with you? The kitchen is on a hold for 45 minutes because it’s so backed up, but your food should be out in another 10 minutes.” We were frustrated but understand things happen. She then starts bringing just random items out. All in all, none of us ate together because of the length in between the plates coming out. My kids chicken tacos came out last, way after everyone’s food was served, so they spent time walking around the table picking at others plates because they were so hungry. 3 out of our 8 people at the table said their food was gross, I got a burrito bowl which is pretty hard to make gross, but it was disgusting. The steak tasted old, the sauce that they marinated the steak in tasted spoiled. The waitress knew we were unhappy and never once tried to make anything better for us.

We go here every time we come to town. They have some of the best margaritas and the food is usually good. Our visit this time around was not to pleasurable, we were a party of five, the place was not overly busy if busy at all when arrived. Our server greeted us promptly and kindly , after our drink orders were in that's kinda when it went all down hill, our drinks took longer than they should have which wasn't the problem however it continued, we ordered two apps when we ordered our drinks, avocado fries and Tostitos, ten mins had probably gone by after we placed our order for apps at this point our dinner was in. After a while of no apps our server returned with the beginning of our actual order, I ask are our apps coming out? I get the look of oh sh** what app's. " let me check she says" comes back oh I'm sorry the only slip they have is for your fries but your food is alomst the fries will be right out. Our food comes as were eating still waiting for our app's at this point we do not want or need them. She didnt even come over to check on the meals that we had, towards the end of the meal she says oh those "fries" should have been out. Not until she is clearing our dishes does she say oh im sorry ill have those taken off your bill. Well no kidding you will, as we are waiting for our to go boxes and check , she brings the table next to us their food or what she thought was there food . they had already received, so she brings them the rest of their food, which is wrong. Excuse me but when we go out we are paying you to do your job and do it well, I understand mistakes, however you should take more pride and pay more attention to what you are doing no matter what job it is, & oh I'm sorry did a manager come by to apoglize or ask how everything was? Not once, we will return not for the service...

Wow, Have you ever been at a restaurant and felt like an inconvenience? I actually refilled the tortilla chip warmer myself then a staff member comes over, adds more, then uses her bare hands to spread them out. This individual had us laughing because she was just dragging dirty furniture across the floor. Sat at the bar and it took over 15 minutes to clear the old debris in front of us, at least they took our drink order and navigated it around the food debris from the previous patrons as they set it down. Well over twenty five minutes later we had the opportunity to order, one yelled our order to another and then he yelled back directly at us and everything was incorrect. I’m currently sitting at the bar waiting on my second opportunity to order a drink, think as I write this. I think we are nearing 45 minutes now but at this point it’s entertaining. We had to shuffle down a bit further at the bar as the waitress continued to pile dirty glasses next to me and at this point actually excused herself and set them directly in front of me... that was polite!

Back for an edit: Four minutes after posting both bartenders go out back and I can hear them screaming at each other, a few good f-bombs and then the guy comes out drops a few good f’s remarking to his previous experience in the rear. I am noting on our bill I...
