I really wanted to love this place because I've heard great things, and my friends and I were excited to try it. We placed a pickup order through DoorDash around 9:30 PM and arrived at Pearl Cafe at 10:10 PM, but were told our order wasn’t ready yet. We waited in the car for a while and noticed that two other groups were also waiting for their orders. Eventually, we decided to go inside, and while waiting, three more people came in and someone who had just arrived got their order before us. At that point, it was already 11 PM. When we finally received our drinks, I noticed the cup label showed it had been ready since 10:12 PM, which was disappointing because some of the drinks had already become watered down from the ice. I understand if they were waiting to complete the entire order before handing it over, but I would’ve preferred getting my drink earlier rather than waiting for everything all at once. We also realized our waffles were missing. When we let them know, they said it would be a 6-minute wait. We ended up waiting another 15+ minutes, and still no waffles. We overheard that the waffle maker was running slow, which we totally understand things happen, especially during busy hours and when training a new hire (which it looked like they were doing). A staff member even tried to give us cash for a refund, but since we paid through DoorDash, we just requested the refund through the app and gave the cash back. I can see they were doing their best in a tough situation, and I respect that. I appreciate their effort and kindness, but the long wait and watered-down drinks did make the experience frustrating.
