We went to dinner while vacationing near Mesquite. We didn't know that it was the night of a big local game, so the place was packed!!! However, we weren't even greeted when we walked in. There was no one at the hostess station, and even when she returned, she didn't even look up to see if anyone new had entered the restaurant (and there was only one other couple in the waiting area when we first got there).
They have a bar side and a restaurant side of the establishment. We sat on the restaurant side. When our waitress FINALLY showed up to our table there was an EXTREME!!!! language barrier that made it very difficult to communicate. We asked for a drink menu but they don't have one, so we had to order whatever we could think of on our own on the fly. We understood that they were extremely busy, but it seemed to take WAY longer than it should have to receive our drink and food order. I had already drank 3/4 of my drink by the time the food got to our table and I had to order another. The drinks were good, but my burger was SUPER burnt!!! I had asked for it to be medium-well and it was well, well, well done, to the point that the first thing I tasted with every bite was the burnt meat and it left an ashy taste in my mouth. The fries were fantastic! My husband loved his burger, the bun was replaced with garlic bread and it was AMAZING!!! I'm not one to return food, because I don't want the staff to mess with my food while it's in the kitchen if they get upset.
We would return to Wedgies again, but I would ask for my burger to be cooked at a lower temp and level...
Read moreParty of three were seated in ample booth. Appetizer ordered, Nachos Bel Grande were a heaping affordable platter served with chunky guacamole, sour cream and a non-descript salsa. The cheese sauce was barely present. Plenty of spicy ground beef with beans, and sliced jalapenos. Don't think this negatively criticizes, because the appetizer was well-balanced. It just alerts those with an expectation of pile of gooey cheese. Wedgie's offers a variety of burgers, the conscientious diners across the table ordered a chicken salad, and a medium burger without bun, the latter accommodated without comment. I ordered a Hawaiian burger done medium. The bun was overtoasted and the meat Patty charcoal grill blackened past medium. These were topped with a broad leaf lettuce and a grilled pineapple ring and a roast pepper dressed with a citrus sauce. At 7pm with only half the dining facility open, they were out of coleslaw, so rather than alternatively french fries, I opted for the potato salad. I should mention we all started with a cup of excellent minestrone soup. So even if I questioned the preparation of our meals, they were flavorful and sizably proportioned. The wait was longer than normal. So be patient and take in the professional and collegiate banners and flags suspended from the ceiling. Most booths have cable TV tuned into a...
Read moreI should have read the reviews. We were in town from Utah and needed lunch, thought this "sports bar and grill" would be the place to do the trick, but it's not. Dingy hole on the wall that looks like it hasn't had a make over since the 70s. We were seated and had no one come to our table for over 10 mins. Side notezero vegetarian options on the menu once we ordered, it would be another 40 mins before the side salad came out (we were getting up to leave when it came...we assumed the rest of the food was also coming out, we were wrong) Then 10 mins later the appetizer. Another 10 mins and the first entree trickled out. Its been over and hour, At this point we cancelled the rest of the orders, a lettuce wrap and pizza...they were upset because the pizza "had just come out of the oven", we accepted it because our 5 yr old that had ordered it was excited for it and super hungry. This terrible lunch came with an expensive tab as well, for a pizza, appetizer, side salad and chicken tenders it was over $50. For the money we could have had a nice, complete, timely meal,...
