I love Dave's Diner. Service is always friendly and professional and if there happens to be any kind of a mistake or an oversight they are quick to fix it. I especially like that they are one of the few restaurants that I have found that actually has sriracha sauce available for customers. It actually started when one waitress (Candy) brought in her own sriracha sauce and actually allowed some of the customers to use it. I was one of the fortunate recipients of her kindness. Dave's has since started providing their own sriracha sauce and is always available now. I will usually visit Dave's on Sunday and they have a variety of specials available weekly if not daily. Highly recommend as they have something for everyone. This is an update to my Dave's Diner review from a few years back. I've become quite the regular at Dave's and now visit 2 to 3 times weekly. Dave's made it through the pandemic by cutting back their hours and just doing breakfast while keeping most of their servers employed. They also implemented some safeguards both at their cash registers and along the booths. They are now back to their regular restaurant hours and just as good if not better than ever. I have become familiar and friendly with all of the service staff, restaurant managers and a number of customers that frequent Dave's on a weekly basis. Dave's is like a home away from home with their great food consisting of daily specials along with a pretty extensive menu. If you found my review helpful, please give me a thumbs up and feel free to check out some of my other...
Read moreWe're from New Jersey, the diner capital of the world. These kinds of places dot the landscape back home, so our standards for diners are pretty high, you're not going to impress us with a nostalgic theme alone! With that being said, Dave's checks all the boxes, good food, reasonable prices, quick service and a friendly staff. The place was hopping on the Friday night we were in for dinner, and there was no outdoor seating available, but we were seated in a booth within about 5 minutes. Orders were taken quickly, and the food arrived soon thereafter. My oldest had a very good banana pancake which he polished off, while my youngest had a foot-long hot dog with chips. The wife had two eggs over easy with hash browns, which she wasn't terribly fond of (the potatoes weren't seasoned and were almost sweet. Not bad, just not what she is used to). I had the fried chicken at the waitress's suggestion. She did not steer me wrong. It was crispy on the outside without losing any of the moisture in the meat, perfectly done. The sides did not match the entree, however. The biscuit was a bit dry, the mashed potatoes were okay, and the cole slaw wasn't very good at all; dry and flavorless, almost like plain shredded cabbage. Still, all in all this was a very solid meal, and the price was certainly right. They also have root beer on draft, something I didn't come to realize until I was leaving. Would've loved to try it! If I find myself in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to...
Read moreI had an upsetting experience here. I am 6 months pregnant - milkshakes have been my pregnancy craving. I thought it would be cute to take “maternity” pictures with a milkshake and have been planning to come to Dave’s ever since I discovered it on google because they serve milkshakes in the typical milkshake cup and they’re a cute typical 50s diner. I’ve been really excited for this and have been waiting for my stomach to get big enough! My husband and I went tonight to execute my vision - I basically just wanted pictures of me drinking a milkshake in the booth with my bump in the photos. I told our waiter we would like to first order a milkshake because I want to take a couple pictures, and then we would order dinner. I wanted to let the staff know my plan. We were in a corner booth bothering no one. But sadly I noticed a table near by laughing at me in a mean way (the restaurant can’t control this I know) but our young man waiter was also joining in. I don’t think what I was doing was that odd. We took pictures in the booth for maybe 5 minutes when the milkshake arrived. It’s not like I was going around the entire restaurant having a full on photo shoot. I guess people just like to make fun of people if they see them taking pictures in public? When the waiter approached us shortly later I told him we didn’t want to order dinner anymore, which is a shame because I really wanted to try the...
