We went here about a year ago & the prime rib was great - best we ever had , honestly . Which is why , when trying to chose a restaurant to bring out son out to for his 16th birthday , we chose Fireside. And we are very sorry that we did...
Initially , we ordered two 12oz prime ribs & our son ordered chicken tenders . We were informed that they might be out of prime rib , which was perfectly understandable ( despite it being 7pm ). Our server said she would " LET US KNOW" if they were out of prime rib & asked us if we had any alternatives in mind just in case , and we chose Haddock & mashed potatoes my wife & Steak Tips with "garlic oil" fries ( which was described to me as "thin cut fries with garlic and parmesan " ) for myself...And thats when things went downhill...
She never came back to tell us if the prime rib was available , despite saying she would - she just put our order in & we didnt see her again until the food arrived. My wife's mashed potatoes were piping hot but her haddock was cold and undercooked. My Steak tips were 4 luke-warm lumps of meat on a plate with a basket of shoestring fries ( no garlic , no parmesan and I had to grab salt from the table next to us cause ours was bare ). And our son was given 4 pieces of bland fried chicken with bland fries in a basket...
Normally , we wouldn't care so much about 'presentation" , but this was our sons birthday & we chose this restaurant because we thought it would be a nicer place . The fish was cold , the steak tips were bland ( and cost MORE than the prime rib we wasn't available at 7pm) , and most importantly , our attempt at taking our son out to a "nicer" restaurant ended with disappointment . Next year we will just go out for chinese food .
Update : Whoever responded to this review from Fireside is a LIAR … there was no “disruption “ to the manager or server or the party next to us because I barely even spoke to the manager about this . I briefly brought it up that I wasn’t satisfied , and the place was already so loud that there’s no way the party next to us was even aware of it.
Fireside , I made a bad review because the experience was bad and it was the truth . I didn’t embellish or exaggerate & simply reviewed my experience as it happened. Trying to turn it around on me because your food was bad is just petty . And if your server & manager need “consoling” everytime a customer isn’t happy , they need to get some thicker skin. Now instead of simply leaving a bad review & moving on , I will now make it a point to NOT recommend your restaurant to anyone & tell anyone who wants to hear it about my bad experience AS WELL as the poor response from you . And that will make my Chinese food even...
Read moreI am usually very happy with Fireside Grille. USUALLY. We have gone there many times over the years for brunch or dinner and have held multiple special events in their banquet room.
However, I am severely disappointed with them today.
Not wanting to leave it until the last minute, I called on April 4th to make Mother's Day reservations. I SPECIFICALLY asked if they would be having a special brunch. They told me that there was nothing scheduled.
Their regular Sunday Brunch is $25/$15 for adults/children. I made a reservation for 10 people and budgeted for $230+tip.
They called today to confirm the reservation. They are now having a special Mother's Day Brunch and the price has gone up to $45/25. My 10 person brunch is now $406+tip.
I mentioned that I had been told that there wasn't a special brunch scheduled when I originally made the reservation. Their response was that they "always have a Mother's Day Brunch." Why was the person I spoke to on April 4th, not aware of this? Why was the person that they went to speak to when they put me on hold to verify if there was a Mother's Day Brunch aware of this?
It is now 5 days before Mother's Day and our brunch is going to be NEARLY DOUBLE what was originally planned. I would love to be able to cancel and just make other plans, but it is FIVE DAYS before Mother's Day and there is nothing available anywhere.
We didn't want anything fancy. Probably 80% of the "special menu" is irrelevant to us. We just wanted a regular brunch with regular basic brunch items. We wanted to be able to get together as a family and spend some time together. Now, even that may be difficult as there is a limit on the amount of time that we will be allowed to be there and based on previous "special event brunches" that we have attended at Fireside Grille, half of that alloted time will be spent waiting in line to get our meals.
Will we still be going? Most likely, yes, because there are no other alternatives available.
However, I do not appreciate being deceived in the manner that I was.
If there is a yearly recurring event, it should be known by staff. They should be able to communicate that information to customers when they call to make reservations ahead of time, especially when SPECIFICALLY asked about it.
If plans change, and a special event is scheduled AFTER reservations are made, especially when there is such an impact to the cost of the meal, the customer should be contacted and made aware of the change as soon as possible so that they can make an informed decision as to whether or not they need to make...
Read moreThe brunch overall was pretty good, our waitress cleaned the table twice and brought drinks , she was adequate . The real issue we had was at the time of the bill, I always buy a vanilla gift card for dining as I have been hacked on my credit cards and bank card so it's easier just to add $100 or more to a gift card. She told us they only take 80% as it's how they do business , that was ok no biggie, however when she came back she said you have $20 left we said ok so I gave her a $18 tip little over 20% in cash. When we used the card at aroma Joe's we found they took $16 aswell , when my wife called the manager said it's something we do we take a tip of 20% so if a person didn't tip it's something we do to cover. My wife said but we gave her like 21% to be nice and now you get over $30 for really not much , so how do we fix that , he said we will put the money back on the card by Tuesday, nothing started yet. In the end its not about money as I make plenty , it's about misleading and not be honest. Going there you will be happy but be careful at the bill as look at it and ask for a receipt so you don't double tip for adequate service not great. It's your money you decide what to give not a restaurant or there employees, I tip everyone as I believe in it , like aroma Joe's when I gave $5 just because I wanted to .
Money was added back to the gift card, not even one day later only using the card at the restaurant, it was charged again on Google someone bought Google games for there phone, lmao , this is hilarious, get called on about a transaction that even the card company said was not pending but charged and there policy doesn't hold a certain about especially the amount a tip would be, but the general manager did admit they added the tip as policy and would give it back after I paid in cash which it was added back as I gave 20 not the 16 they took.
But then it gets charge again for Google games, like I said lmao , ok if you need it that bad you win, we won't be...
