My friend and I were very excited to have dinner at the Hideaway last night, well what a disaster it turned out to be. The decorations were very nice, but the food was awful and the service not far behind. We ordered the Brussel sprout appetizer which came in a sweet not sauce, they might have been good if they weren't so cold when served. Then we were thinking about what to have for dinner while the bartender was talking to us explaining some things about the menu, while we were talking I asked my friend if she was going to have the French onion soup, just asking her because we really weren't sure, then we were talking to the bartender about the sandwiches, I asked about the pastrami, he said they didn't have any anyway ,( they have about 3 sandwiches with pastrami on menu), how could they possibly run out? So we were asking about the prime rib sandwich, the bartender said it was very good. So we said thank you for info and the bartender walked away. So we were just sitting talking for about 20 min or so wondering when someone was going to take our order, when a food runner came along and delivered 1 room temp bowl of French onion soup, it wasn't even appealing to look at, the cheese was in clumps not even really melted. We were both taken back because we didn't order the onion soup we were inquiring about it, and they only brought 1 anyway, the same thing happened with the prime rib sandwich, we didn't order it we inquired about it, and again 1 sandwich for 2 people, I asked the runner about why she brought 1 onion soup, and she said she would ask about it, next thing I know while we were eating our salty prime rib sandwich, another Luke warm bowl of onion soup appears, needless to say we were so taken back we just ate the sandwich because we just wanted to get out of there. The bartender finally came over to take our plates off our over crowded table and we mentioned the soup was cold, he did take the soup off the bill. The bill was 88.00 dollars after soup taken off it was 70.00. We paid and left quickly because we just wanted out. I am writing this review because I am angry at myself for not asking to see a manager, because we didn't really order our food we inquired and then it was in front of us. And all the food was not good from the cold Brussels sprouts to the room temperature soup with the clump of cheese in the middle, to the salty prime rib sandwich. Maybe they were having a really off night. It wasn't even really busy because we got there a little after 5. But I can say I'm so disappointed, I won't be back and I honestly can't recommend it to...

I came into the hideaway tonight as I do often on Friday nights to order prime rib. The service is always great as well as food. Tonight was not the case and leaving my review based on the extremely poor service from the older blonde waitress. She had waited on others that came after us and was rude rjght off the bat because I asked for the frys in my meal to come out first for my daughter as they do every time without issue. I had to ask 3 times for her side of honey mustard that i asked for when ordering our meal. as well as was not given my water refill after she asked if i wanted more and me then having to ask 3 times and watching her bring everyone else drinks first and proceed to also take food orders. Walking by me twice empty handed. Her excuse was she was busy. My food was not cooked to the way I asked. Half was rare half was medium well. Never seen that before. At this point im fed up and my daughter is overstimulated and I just want to eat what I can of my steak and leave. The owner came over to ask why I was upset and proceeded to try to take my food away after I said id like to eat what I can and pay for half seeing how only half was cooked to how i ordered it. My daughter then spilled water on the floor and I tried to tell my waitress as it was in the walkway to the bathroom and near an elderly woman's seat and we didn't want anyone to fall. The waitress heard me say excuse me twice and made eye contact both times but chose to ignore me. Only thing the owner could say after the fact was that the waitress has twins as if that justified her extremely poor service and unprofessionalism. Im appalled with the whole experience and the owners lack of caring about our concerns and basically shewing us out the door. I will not be returning ever again!

The frys were cold the rice was awful and steak was fatty and undercooked.

In response to their response. It wasnt that things weren't up to my standards. Its the blatant disrespect and lack of great customer service from your waitress. The fact that you shamed me and my daughter instead of speaking to your server is crazy to me. Then the bad mouthing about me to the bartenders and customers was just mindblowing. Its really too bad the owners and staff dont strive for excellent...

We recently hosted a 40th birthday party at the Hideaway, and it was an awesome experience from start to finish. We were looking for a reasonably priced venue that could accommodate a crowd of 40-50 people, where we could bring our own decorations and music. Hideaway not only met but exceeded our expectations in every way.

From the moment we inquired about booking, the staff was incredibly accommodating. They were able to secure the exact date and time we wanted, and even gave us the entire second floor of the restaurant for our private event. The outdoor deck was also available to us, complete with large heaters to ensure everyone was comfortable, even though it was chilly outside.

We had an assortment of decorations that we wanted to set up ahead of time, and the team was more than happy to give us access 3-4 hours before the event began. This flexibility made it so much easier to prepare and ensure everything was perfect for the celebration.

A special shout-out goes to Ian, who went above and beyond in managing our event. He was always on top of things—ensuring food was replenished promptly if anything was running low, often without us even needing to ask. His quick responses to any questions, whether by text or phone call, made the planning process smooth and stress-free. We also appreciated how accommodating he was when we needed to make last-minute changes to food orders or the number of guests. Nothing was ever an issue.

Throughout the event, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, which truly enhanced the overall experience. After the party wound down, we never felt rushed. They gave us ample time to clean up, ensuring we had a relaxed and stress-free conclusion to the night.

Overall, Hideaway provided a warm, welcoming, and seamless environment for our celebration. If you're looking for a venue with great service, flexibility, and a relaxed atmosphere, I highly recommend Hideaway. We'll definitely be back for...

I've been going to The Hideaway long before the former owner retired and sold the place. It's so much different now. The renovations are excellent from what I saw so far on the first floor. It's not a dark cave-like atmosphere anymore (which was very nostalgic for me). It's bright, cheery and modern now. Yet somehow the first floor seems smaller than before. They had quick, lovely staff that attended to us. No complaints there. They were more than awesome. They also had a live singer and she sang beautifully. I loved many of her songs as the 90's has many songs I enjoy. My husband ordered the steak and I ordered the honey grilled salmon. What a disappointment. I've had two day old, cold macaroni and cheese that tasted way better than what we were served. And the portion size? Not worth the price at all. Tiny piece of salmon and way too much rice. My husband would've liked bigger pieces of steak as well. Everything was blander than bland. No seasoning on anything. We won't be eating here ever again. However, the drink I ordered was fantastic. Kudos to the bartender. My watermelon martini was incredible. Overall, not a total negative experience. If they fix their portion sizes, add seasoning to their food, and maybe not overcook the food we might come back for another try. You could come here for drinks and some live singing worth jamming to though with some friends or family. That's what I recommend. Judge the food for yourselves.

My hubby & I and friend Chris happened to do a drive by to check out the new Hideaway and the sign said Open much to our surprise! Little did we know, It was their opening day about 1pm. So we decided to pop in and have lunch and see the digs. Well we couldn’t believe our eyes. It’s so bright and beautiful. We did a tour and saw that awesome deck upstairs and second bar that will be be open to the outside with fully collapsible sliding windows. The new owner, Bo, gave us the scoop that there will be entertainment in the summer months on the deck. He told us how he bought the building hoping to restore it. Well Bo you gave this place a whole new life. Great job! We had a great lunch at the bar and enjoyed chatting with our bartenders who are excited too. We were blown away by the whipped feta cheese appy served with piping hot homemade pita bread. I predict This will be their signature item. You’ve gotta try it. We split the beet salad, also delicious, with the dip and it was a great lunch. Hubby had the grilled chicken Cesar salad & loved it. Hefty portion too. I enjoyed a canned vodka soda that was yummy. Bo is partnering with the owner of smuttynose brewery (New Hampshire based) and will be offering up some great craft beers. We are planning our 1st dinner on Friday night and can’t wait! So happy to have a new restaurant in town with an eclectic menu out of the norm. Best of luck Bo and company!
