Our Family has been eating Wah Fu foods for a long time . We used to sit down and eat in , and over the years opted for take out. Had an instance of the register girl who was on the phone at check out , I paid our bill for our takeout order , she was on the phone , I waited for my change of 10.62 , she finally hung up the phone and took 10.00 dollars out of my hand and asked for the change , I said I paid you already , we argued a little , and I left mad. Called the city prosecutor, they called Wash Fu’s , wash Fu called us said there was a mistake and told us to come get our money . My family ordered take out today Aug 2, 2024, my daughter ordered on the phone like she has over the years , they went to pick up our order , they brought it home and the egg Fu young was shrimp . No one in our family eats shrimp ! So we called them back , and the register girl I had words with years ago , said you daughter lies ! I beg your pardon - my daughter doesn’t lie ! . I can’t believe she still there making mistakes and care only about the money . Maybe she doesn’t realize that this is America , the Customer js always right ! Anyway the food may have declined some over the years , but with different cooks it may be the culprit. I don’t know maybe it’s time for our family to try different Chinese restaurants . Even after picking up our order she told my wife your daughter still lied . She no longer will eat Wah Fu ‘s! p.s. To the owner , I’m sorry to give you a lower than expected review , but that Lady at the Register isn’t doing much good for your business . I’m also not recommending, any of you food...
Read moreIt's crazy to be able say this, but I've been enjoying Wah Fu for almost 30 years now.
I now live about 45 minutes south of the restaurant, but I still visit regularly.
Most Chinese restaurants use the same formula: order frozen breaded meat from a supplier, dump it in a deep fryer, and coat it in a sugary sauce. It's pretty much all the same, no matter where you go.
Wah Fu is different, and everything is homemade. If you go, it's absolutely essential that you order their wonton soup and an egg roll. Once you've experienced those starters, you'll be able to tell everything is prepared fresh on site instead of shipped in from the cheapest supplier. The breading on their fried dishes? Obviously done by hand. The fried rice isn't an artificial "yellow" color like most places, and you'll instead find real chunks of pork, egg, and green onion within.
It's not for everybody. If you grew up liking the "fast food style" Chinese, you may not like Wah Fu, but if you're a person who appreciates a family that has established its own recipes and still prepares things from scratch, you'll be hard pressed to find a better spot. From talking to others about Wah Fu, I have found it's very polarizing: You either absolutely love it or absolutely hate it. It doesn't seem there is anything in between.
The inside is nothing special and won't wow you with decor. Their servers are friendly and helpful, but there's no showy gimmicks. The star of the show here is the food, but shouldn't that be what a restaurant is about?
My only complaint: I miss their...
Read moreBeen driving past Wah Fu's for years, so I finally decided to stop and try it. I have mixed feelings about it. I ordered the Chicken with Broccoli dinner combination to go - there were lots of other vegetables in it which was not expected, and it was made in a white sauce which was also not expected. The listing under "combinations" didn't mention other vegetables, but I checked the detailed menu at home and the listing on a different page under Poultry Dishes did. Luckily none of them were peppers or I would have had to drive back and return it (I'm allergic to peppers). The chicken was ok, the white sauce was actually good, the broccoli was very mushy but tasted ok, the snow peas were so mushy they were unpleasant to eat so I just threw them away (and there were alot of them - more than the broccoli), the baby corn was good, and the water chestnuts were good. I liked the fried rice and the egg roll. But the dinner didn't seem to be Wok cooked like other Chinese takeout, my order came so fast and was so hot that it seems like it was microwaved (except for the rice and eggroll). I'm not sure if I will stop here again but if I do I will have to be very careful to ask about...
