A couple and I ate here early on a Saturday night. There was live acoustic guitar and vocals. The entertainment was quite good (and not too loud or intrusive) but didn't he didn't have much vocal range so it became a bit monotonous after a while for my tastes, since some songs just needed more range. The restaurant is nice with almost a home-like feel. The upstairs was rather warm so we chose to be downstairs. The bar is large and separated so that noise is somewhat contained. The service was a bit slow at times but overall, OK. They were a bit stingy with the bread, but (almost begrudgingly) after a wait, brought us more. The serving of unsalted butter with the bread was generous. There was no salt or pepper on any tables... A sure sign of fine dining and the chef's confidence? I felt the roasted peach appetizer was undercooked but tasty. The crab cakes were perhaps the best I have ever experienced, with very little filler. My salmon was cooked rare, to perfection. I tried a friend's steak and felt it a bit chewy but perhaps normal for grass-fed beef. It was a generous steak. They took away my silverware when clearing the appetizer plates and did not recognize that they needed to bring more nor did they stop by the table early on to see if our entrees were to our liking or if anything was required. Pepper... Small things, but not quite marrying well with the level of the food being served and prices. The ice cream sandwich dessert was very good and quite creative with only the slightest issue of a few slivers of almond in the cookies being overly chewy and tough. We agreed it was a very good experience and even plan to return in a week with more friends...

My friend and I were looking for a spot to meet halfway between Glastonbury and Naugatuck, so we ended up at Fire at the Ridge. We sat upstairs, and for most of the night we were the only table up there. The restaurant was beautiful inside with its festive decorations. I saw they had an indoor fire pit, which I’m sure is so cozy when it’s on. Our waitress was attentive, and the food came out very quickly. The truffle Mac was delicious, but definitely more on the simple side, and we enjoyed the garlic parm wings and short rib with polenta. I appreciated their well-rounded menu. I was a little disappointed when the waitress brought over our check without asking if we wanted dessert because there were some interesting choices, but I guess we didn’t really need it anyway. This restaurant is so tucked back, I think it’s a well-kept secret! I couldn’t believe the restaurant wasn’t more busy on a Friday night, but I’m sure at Powder Ridge’s peak season this place is packed. My friend and I will be keeping this spot in mind to meet up at again!

Reserved for a party of 10. As we walked through the door, a musty odor greeted us. We were seated in a dark corner. Noticing no other patrons in the restaurant. We thought - Wow! Beat the rush as they advertised “Live Music”. Our waitress, we will call her “K”. “K” greeted us and took our drink order. After a few minutes, she came with tray carrying the drinks and started passing them out, one by one. When it came to bring my daughter in law her drink, “K” went to put the drink down, the rest of the tray of drinks went down my back. Yes 2 full beers and a coke. I was soaked! My daughter in law who was seated next to me, she was wet, my husband shoes got wet and now we all smelled like beer! All “K” could say was “that has never happened to me before” and left to grab napkins to clean up the mess. I sat shocked about what had just happened. When “K” arrived back with the napkins, she went straight to cleaning the beer off the floor, instead of helping her customer or even giving me an “I’m sorry”. I was helped up by my daughter in law/daughter and was taken to the bathroom. “K” never checked on me and according to my family still at the table, none of the employees seemed concerned about me at all. Never brought me anything to help. No towel! No napkin! The waitresses were worried about moping up the drinks and changing the table cloth. Not once did anyone checked on me! My son brought me a t-shirt from his car and I cleaned up the best I could with the toilet paper and roll of paper towels in the bathroom. We totally get accidents do occur. No one seriously hurt. So we stayed. we asked for our table to be moved and that’s when “K” apologized to me. “Sorry”, a good 15/20 min after the incident. As my soaked purse and shirt sits on the floor by my side on napkins from the table …No manager checked on me… this was a disaster and I was still soaked! As I sat in wet pants, in my son’s t-shirt, we continued our dinner. My husband ordered the chicken parm. When it arrived, it was hot and tasted pretty good UNTIL he hit the spoiled chicken! The chicken had an off, almost (rusted) metallic flavor - he swallowed some and spit out the second mouthful. Could not believe it! As a “thoughtful” (joke) gesture, they comped us the drinks she spilled on me and the disgusting chicken dish! I am very disappointed in the way these people treat their patrons. I am disgusted that they would serve spoiled chicken! And in the end, there was no live music. I DO NOT recommend this restaurant. And if “K” reads this - shame on you for not getting me a towel or...

Ate Easter brunch with family for first time here. We wanted to try something different. No one was there to greet us at the door. Once we went to get food, it was either dried out or completely empty and people standing around waiting for them to restock food. The chicken tenders and fries for the children were extremely dried out and so was the chicken and salmon, Prime rib line made no sense why would the sauce be first then the meat and so people had to get back in line just to get sauce. The shrimp was obviously seasoned with whatever the prime rib was seasoned with and it was a not so good seasoning especially on seafood. The lobster bisque was SUPER SALTY, and waited forever for them to restock it and only put it out barely half full. Waitress rarely came to table to check on us and the person pouring water spilled some on my child. The dessert was a nasty mess the cake looked horrible and the lemon tart was different colors. Why choose carrot cake? It looked mushed and cut so thinly it would break just from trying to pick it up. The waffles had a weird undesirable crunch to them and no syrup refilled. For the price expected way better especially since the place we usually go to on holidays is cheaper and better food and service for a buffet. Everyone should just go to woodwinds and forget about this place on special events. Wanted to give the benefit of the doubt after seeing the reviews after booking but thought for the price it might be a little better. Boy was I wrong. Trust the reviews...
