I tried grace coffee Middleton this morning 5/6/23 at the prompt of a friend ... let me tell you... it was so weird... the staff was so unfriendly... they looked sad- depressed- and did not want to talk... I mean while taking an order... not even chit chat...
Then- the guy making the coffee (red curly hair- white hat- green shirt- black glasses) put one coffee on the counter and my friend asked what it was... he had so much animosity towards us as if we had done something to him... he was so nasty and refused to answer... just looking at us with hate in his eyes...
So I asked him very overly politely what drink was on the counter and he mumbled something I couldn't hear clearly .... he was just an absolute jerk and then he was so annoyed for some unknown reason that he walked away from the counter... I guess a patron asking what drink he just made was just over the top and too much for himđ€·ââïž
So a girl who had been next to him also with the sad depressed look was also very cold ... she finished making the drinks and also did not want to talk to us no matter how friendly & apologetic we were being for asking a simple question... it was such a Bizarre situation...
I have no idea what was going on with them but they do not have to worry about ever seeing my face again... there are too many other nice coffee shops to choose from... I don't need to put up with that kind of...
Read moreTL;DR Food is NOT fresh , coffee is decent, staff seem quite unhappy to work here.
I had reviewed this place a while ago when it first opened (5 stars then). Around that time, the staff seemed happy to work there and the food was great. I got my lunch to-go recently and I felt like things changed to where I needed to re-review.
The coffee was fine but the food took a major dent in quality. I noticed that the lettuce in my wrap was probably on the verge of going bad (pink stalks and browned leaves) and is an indication that corners are being cut. The pasta salad that came as a side with my wrap was definitely made several days ago. $20 for a coffee and food that equates to leftovers is insane.
The place seems quite understaffed. From the look on the staff's faces, they don't seem to be compensated well for the extra work they likely are doing. They definitely had more smiles on their faces in the past. Employees don't just serve poor quality food because they want to. And the amount you charge gives you room to pay your staff competitive wages, which looks like it isn't the case.
Knowing how much I've spent on a lunch, I'll gladly sit down at a nearby...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting a Grace Coffee. The guy who was working couldnât answer simple questions about the food and drinks in the menu. When we got out drinks (there was several of us and I tried all the drinks so it wasnât a âone offâ issue). One person ordered a special menu lavender latte drink and it tasted nothing like lavender. It had a very bitter taste like the espresso was old. They went back up and asked for more milk in the cup to try and cut the bitter taste and was told they would be charged for a whole new drink. đ€ The hot chocolate was watery and flavorless we paid extra for whipped cream and it had none. We ordered an iced chai and it was watery. And we ordered a hot chai latte with a shot of espresso. The hot chai only tasted like ginger water with no other flavor and you couldnât even tell there was any espresso in it. I make chai from scratch at home and I would argue if you could call this a chai at all.
Over all the whole experience was VERY disappointing. Especially since several people have said Grace is one of Madisonâs best coffee shops. If thatâs true the coffee scene in Madison is...
