Vitruvius Coffee and Tea — Restaurant in Middleton

Update 7/20 It has gotten quite a bit busier, though it was raining, so people weren't outside, which played a role in that. The flat white I ordered was good again. Overall this had turned into a solid option. I would love if they would do bakery or light food options in-house instead of offering what is available in many other coffee shops to make it really stand out, but I do recommend checking it out.

Update 6/22 After talking with the baristas there, my advice below was actually taken. They have added a flat white to the menu, added smaller cup sizes, and have improved on the milk foam. It is fun talking with them, and they have learned a lot and made improvements. I am leaving it as 4 star for now still until I go several times and get a well made flat white consistently, but the trending is absolutely in the right direction.

--Original Review below this line.-- I was looking for a new coffee shop to check out and had walked into and out of two other shops without ordering anything after seeing the menus were focused on sugar.

I was looking for a good flat white specifically, and though it is not on the menu, the barista was happy to accommodate and make my request. It came out a little larger than I was hoping, closer perhaps to 10 ounces than the 6 I requested. The milk had looser foam akin to a cappuccino than a flat white, but I could tell that they cared, telling me to tell them how it was.

The atmosphere is super fun with bar seating facing the baristas so you can talk with them and there is outdoor seating available. They had some jazzy, "tropical" style music playing (for lack of a better description) with a piano in the back making it a cozy, yet bright spot to spend time with friends.

I would give 5 stars if they can tighten up the milk foam and perhaps buy some smaller cup sizes to make a true flat white (and add it to the menu).

If you are looking for a change of pace, it's certainly worth checking out for the overall experience. I am just very particular...

Discovered this place recently, so I decided to do some work between errands and was pleasantly surprised by my experience.

Atmosphere was cozy and chill, coffee was tasty (they serve Wonderstate), baristas were friendly, pastry was fresh (Madison Sourdough), and prices were fair. The WiFi was speedy and there was also a nice outdoor space. Honestly, what more could you ask for from a coffee shop?
