Let me preface with: I went during their ‘soft opening’ weekend so it was a little crazy, I would expect it to ease up a little bit over time (but hope it doesn’t wishing them success).
Location: They did a beautiful job with the historic building, everything looks clean but kept a lot of the history of the building. The concept of quick breakfast/sandwiches is great, and the ordering setup will work well when they work out the kinks. Parking isn’t that much of an issue, plenty of street parking.
Drinks: Coffee is just as good as their other locations, and love the Red Store only special additions. Banana Bread Latte was FANTASTIC, such a unique concept with the banana bread milk, really innovative. Baristas quick and do a great job.
Food: They were out of a lot, but got the Shore Hoagie, which was out of this world delicious and good portion size. I always say the bread makes the sandwich, and the Semolina was perfection yet again, really a home run. Can’t wait to try more and even breakfast! I did also get the Chicken Caesar Wrap which was slightly underwhelming, but the owner did openly admit they did not receive in their normal wraps, which makes sense. They favor was good but the wrap was really missing some girth, I don’t think it would have fulfilled a normal lunch hunger for someone like myself. Again, soft opening and something they will fix!!
My suggestions: The utensil station is a good idea in theory, but when it’s super busy it’s hard to weave your way in there to grab stuff. I suggest putting another smaller station with straws, napkins, forks/knives in the dining area, or at least napkin holders on the tables. Also, no real garbage cans that I could see, probably should put a few in dining area if it’s going to be a true “self serve” type setup.
I give it a 4.7 out of 5, rounding up to a 5 because I know they are going to get there. Can’t wait to go back and try some different foods...
Read moreWhen the original owner closed down I for sure thought this place would never be the same. man was I wrong. the new owner's food is, dare I say, better then the original owner?!? to start, the breakfast, just wow. I don't understand how a place can elevate a simple bacon egg and cheese, but they do it. it makes zero sense. the burrito is unbelievable as well. For lunch i have only ordered a few sandwiches. so far, my favorite has to the cheesesteak. hands down best in the area. the steak he uses is so tender. to top it off, the espresso bar is an amazing touch. crazy twists on simple drinks like a yoo-hoo espresso. lastly, the hot cocoa bar for kids is awesome. my daughter is obsessed going there. she is able to add as many toppings as she wants ( big selection). my only gripe, they are too busy. I always have to call ahead because i cant wait 20 minutes for an egg sandwich. the grab and go really helps. hot egg sandwiches ready to go. if they can figure out how to keep up with the online orders vs in store customers this would be 5 stars all around. still is 5 stars because the food slaps. this is going to be a Navesink staple for a...
Read moreMy wife was excited to go here, we have been trying new places for breakfast, our favorite place recently closed. We were the only customers at about 8:20 on a Thursday. Menu is oddball, nothing basic and just a lot of unconventional pairings. I’m a vegetarian there was little without meat. I eat eggs though so I got a sandwich. Hope you like sourdough as that’s your only option. I got a pastry instead of potatoes. Wife got eggs and potatoes. The pastry was definitely yesterday’s. Egg on sourdough was ample or maybe the bread was small. Potato’s were very good. Wife’s eggs were disappointing. My coffee was fine but for some reason my wife’s was horrible. I didn’t believe her but then I tasted it, yuck. Maybe it’s the neighborhood but it cost $35 for two and the food quality isn’t justifying the cost. They seem to make a lot of food off site. They clearly spent money on branding and atmosphere. It’s a small but pleasant place to sit in. We tried 5-6 different breakfast places recently and this...
