I just had surgery and hadn't eaten in a few days. Manhatten is at the end of our development so I thought I'd get my order in early, at 7:30 am and have breakfast with my friend who was visiting at 9. I have restrictions, no lifting, bending, twisting so I instructed driver to leave on the porch table and my friend would bring it in when she arrived.
I ordered a half dozen bagels, lox spread, 2 bagel sandwiches (to freeze for the week), two 20 oz cokes and a 2 ltr coke. Additionally I requested that bagels be sliced (i did not see any indication that there was a charge for this but the receipt showed 1.50) and sandwiches be toasted. I received a call from Manhatten that they didn't have lox spread so I told them to substitute regular (expecting refund of the extra 1.00 they charge for flavored cream cheese). I don't think I was refunded.
20 minutes later the driver rang my bell because the receipt showed 3 bottles of soda yet they gave him 3 fountain sodas and he wanted to make sure it was OK before leaving it. I made it to the door, opened to talk to him but my dog wanted to smell him, she's a new addition and if she got out, she may never find her way back. So I'm trying to hold the dog in with my foot while mindlessly taking the drinks from him because I'm extremely mad (i didn't want fountain soda) and my dog is trying to get out. Again, talking to him, trying to keep dog in while taking the sodas from him. Needless to say I aggravated my surgery and was in bed for 4 days following. I didn't have my brace on as I wasn't expecting to answer the door, the brace is what restricts me from bending or twistinh. That is the 1st problem, wrong sodas and injured my back.
I proceed to unpack my bagels while calling Manhatten to ask WHY they sent fountain sodas. I ordered a 2 ltr because I can't drive and it would last a few days. Fountain soda with ice isn't helping that situation, especially not for 3.50. All 3 sodas were half ice and a waste of 6.00. All they had to say when I asked WHY they sent fountain soda was "this location doesn't stock bottled sodas". I asked WHY they didn't call me before substituting, they called me about not having the cream cheese, easy to add "we dont have bottled soda". Again, "this location doesn't stock bottled soda". I hung up, frustrated and annoyed that I possibly damaged my surgery for a bagel order.
I didn't realize there were other issues until I hung up. NO BAGELS WERE SLICED and neither sandwich was toasted.
I paid 65.00 for 6 bagels, w cream cheese, 2 bagel sandwiches and 3 sodas. I will not be ordering from them again. There is no excuse for this, at 60.00 (delivery, tax and tip incl), I expected more. I think delivery was 9.00, and they used grubhub although I ordered directly from their website.
Had a customer expressed dissatisfaction and hung up, I'd have a Manager call them back and work it out. No call back, no refund or compensation. Such a shame they have great food but don't care about their customers.
I was also onsite one time when a customer came in with a sandwich in her hand and asked if their egg bagels had poppy seeds in them? They told her YES to which she replied "I'm allergic, would you accept the sandwich back and refund me?" She was a well dressed, small older woman. They said NO. First, WHO puts poppy seeds in an egg bagel and WHY wouldnt you accept back the uneaten sandwich, throw it out and at least offer her a new sandwich? She quietly, and calmer than i would have been for a 6.00 sandwich, walked out. This place wont last long in this area, treating...
Read moreUnbelievable incompetence and poor customer service. I place an order for 3 sandwiches, two of the same and one of a different kind which was a signature lunch. I also later ordered 3 bagels with cream cheese. I arrive home and I have 2 sandwiches and I received macaroni salad instead of potato salad which I asked for and no pickle on the signature lunch. I call and tell them I am displeased because I was shorted a sandwich. He checked the receipt and says I was only billed for 2 of the sandwhiches and that she only heard one of the breakfast sandwiches. Really? How does I want 2 of the same sandwich get misconstrued into just one?? Since I'm not able to return, he asks me what he should do for one mistake. I inform him, it was more than one mistake, it was 3 mistakes. He said he would credit me a dollar. REALLY? You completely mess up my order, I pay over 8 dollars for the one sandwich which is supposed to come with a side and a pickle, and you offer me a dollar? I told him to keep that dollar as this review is going to cost him more than that. He said, "That's fine." As a customer I find that casual attitude completely unbelievable! As a manager he missed the opportunity to fix his mistake. His lack of concern and no apology made me even angrier. As a manager he failed miserably. I hope corporate reads this because I will never go back there again. I had visited this location a few times a month and now I will go out of my way to not patronize this store. This situation was handled completely wrong...
Read moreI stopped in today @ 10:30 for my birthday reward sandwich. I immediately notice two elderly workers moving very slow for the amount of people in line. After waiting to have my order taken, I started to question if they were even computer savvy. Prior to paying, I typed my phone number in the tablet at the register, only for it not to show my reward like it did the day prior. Instead it asked which Birthday rewards I wanted to join. I immediately attempted to enter another number for my friends account , who I was positive, also had a reward, that was unused. At this point the older women working the register @ 10:30 a.m. became very nasty towards me and proceeded to swipe my hand away as I tried to finish typing in the phone number. All the while shouting ‘You can’t do it again’ and ‘ No Stop, your going to break it.’ I Gould mention that I am a person of color and she was Caucasian, this very well played a major part in the service I received. Not only was she rude but disrespectful, I have never been to any establishment where it is condoned for an employee to put their hands on a customer , much less prevent them from trying to obtain a reward, rather then assist them. I will be leaving reviews on other sites in addition to this one. It was a horrible experience , andto think I drove 25 min out f m way to use my reward here. I expect to hear back from Manhattan Bagel seeing as how I was unable to leave feedback...
