I visited this location with coworkers to celebrate someone’s last day at the office on Wednesday 10/09/2024. We picked Slider’s because of the location near the job (down the street) and the ample parking. 8 of us arrived separately and ordered food and drinks in the bar area and anytime we go out, we plan to stay a while.
After 2 hours, I had to leave early so I asked for my individual check. 5/8 people had just ordered or received another round of drinks, right before I asked for the check because they had no intention of leaving. Instead of the server telling me that she wasn’t able to separate my check from the entire bill, she comes over with the check and announces to the table that one person asked for the check and dropped it off at the other end of the table from me. Some people had cash and other people had credit cards and we just wanted to split the bill. The server then says we are only allowed to use 5 cards. Then comes over 3 minutes later and says she spoke to her manager and we can use the ATM and we are limited to 3 cards.
I work in restaurants and have dined out before so it’s never a surprise that different restaurants have different rules when it comes to splitting checks. However, I have been dining at different sliders locations for at least 13 years and never experienced an issue with splitting checks. Also, this server, who I know is not a new server and I didn’t receive the most welcoming service from her back in May 2024, couldn’t decide on the restaurant’s policy and the number of cards that could be used. Typically, restaurants have their policy posted on the website, the menus or the server makes an announcement in the beginning. None of this happened, which leads me to believe that there may not be a policy.
As mentioned previously, I didn’t appreciate how she made an announcement to the table about the check when they were clearly not ready to leave instead of talking to me directly. I mentioned to her that she could have shared this with me when I asked for the check so the rest of the party wasn’t shocked with a bill of and she did not acknowledge me at all.
The hallmark of great service is from the welcome when a customer enters to the farewell when the customer is actually leaving. The server’s disposition was such a turn off to the party, that everyone who stayed behind didn’t order another thing, when they typically would have ordered another 2 rounds. I know there were also concerns with them being told to leave around 9:30, when the website and doors say this location closed at 11pm (another reason we chose...
Read moreSo I was on my way home and felt like some wings and programed sliders into my GPS and it said I was 15 mins away and had me arriving at 10:03. So I called to see what time the kitchen closed. Rachel answered the call and informed me that the kitchen closes promptly at 10. I was disappointed because I really had a craving for some good wings. She saw the opportunity to turn the situation around and offered to take my order and put it in. I told her I wasn't sure what I exactly what I wanted. She read off the wing portions and prices. After selecting that she asked what flavors I wanted. I felt really bad because again, I knew you guys and a lot of different flavors. Without me saying anything she asked if I would like her to list the flavors and proceeded to do so. She honestly read which had to be almost the entire list, until I heard the two flavors I wanted. Mind you, she's doing this with a smile on her face that I could hear from the phone. She even laughed and was just delightful as if I was the first customer of the day instead of the jerk calling 15 mins before the kitchen closed lol. She complete taking my order and said it will be with the bartender. I got to the restaurant exactly at 10:01. I walked and and was greeted by Colleen behind the bar. She asked if I was the one who called in the order. I answered yes and she said the food would be right out. I ordered something to drink and after a very short wait, my wings came out and hot!!! Rachel and or the kitchen must have timed it so that it was hot and fresh coming out to me to enjoy and satisfy the BAD craving I had. These two gals were just really top notch. I come here now and again and have great service but tonight was STELLAR from both, but especially that Rachel. Hold on to her, she is an excellent part...
Read moreI’m not one to write reviews but I feel this issue requires one. My wife and I have been going to sliders Middletown since it opened, we have our favorites that work there and everything. But a recent issue will stop us from ever giving sliders business again. About 6 of us went on the fight night and sat at the corner of the bar. Needless to say two off our favorite employees were working and it was a great night, it was busy but not insane and they did a great job. A couple came in and tried to shove us aside and were rude demanding chairs be brought to them you could tell they were drunk. We’d been there for a few hours just relaxing and talking to Rick at this point and ignored them. Well the couple moved to a table and were cursing at the server and being even worst towards her. Rick and Danielle were talking to us and said they’d been cut off and we even said it was a good call they were out of control. Well we went back this week to see the bartenders again Jenna and Danielle. Danielle is no long there because of the couple that night. I own a bar in downtown Middletown and 100% believe she made the right call and are so appalled this was the outcome. They have lost all of us as customers. And if anyone knows how to contact Danielle I personally would like to offer her a job. She did her job and what she’s trained to do because god forbid they got into an accident it would’ve been on her. The fact the lady threatened Danielle’s job and got it is...
