Bonchon Midland Park — Restaurant in Midland Park

What happened?! I was a frequent customer here since they opened. They had fresh and delicious chicken that was cooked to order and amazing. Haven't been here in a couple of years but stopped by 2 weeks ago because my daughter wanted their fries (which were amazing). In the past, I would place a phone order and be told 15-20 min or so for wings so I called ahead so we could pick up on the way home. When I did so, they said no need to place the order ahead of time for fries. OK? We stopped in, ordered fries, and within seconds they were bagged and ready. Suspicious but OK and we went home...a 2 min drive or so. When we got home, the fries were lukewarm and limp like they had been sitting around for quite some time. Disappointed but I thought it was a fluke and was reminded about their chicken since then. Two days ago, I had to opportunity to order so I called ahead for extra well done wings as always and was told 10 min. Uh oh. I was there in less than 10 min and surprisingly (or not) my order was bagged and ready to go. When I got home I was even more disappointed than before. The wings were again, lukewarm at best and the fries were a soggy pile. Unreal. The restaurant was empty when I got there so it wasn't because they were insanely busy. Outstanding! Stopped in for lunch for the first time and I am glad I did. The restaurant is spotless clean and on point with all the details. From signage to condiments. I chose the lunch special offered for $10.75. (M-F 11-3) 8 chicken wings and a side of seasoned fries. The soy garlic wings were very tasty with a good crunch. The seasoned fries were just as good with just the right amount of seasoning. Definitely goes on my list of top ten wing places around. “Every piece of Bonchon chicken is double-fried then hand brushed with our signature sauce”. Very friendly and accommodating counter help with table service. The menu has plenty of other options including soups and other Korean dishes.

Washrooms as well were spotless clean.

I have been ordering from this Bonchon location for several months now and feel I have a good grasp on their menu offerings. To start, they are obviously most known for their Korean fried chicken and I feel that they have been consistent at making them well, especially in comparison to some of the other locations. My typical go-to is their spicy option, but have tried all of the other sauces. This could just be a franchise issue, but their sauces are just way too sweet. The spicy is my favorite because of the actual spice level, but it also probably hides some of the sweetness.

Their fried rice, tteokbokki, and coated dumplings are so sweet they are almost inedible.
