I was told by a co workers who saw me eating grape leaves or dulmas about this place where he had shawarma and dulmas or grape leaves. I had to check it out since I'm middle eastern and I love arabic food. I was curious when I saw their menu, Iraqi tea? And other delicious plates that I love. So I decided to check it out. The restaurant has no shiny sign with lights. But it wasn't hard to spot if you follow the GPS. The restaurant was very clean and smelled good as I entered. The cashier was very friend and he took his time explaining and suggesting plates to those who are not familiar with some of the items on the menu. I decided to try the combo shawarma so I could have a taste of the beef and chicken shawarma over rice. I decided to add a dollar more to upgrade for the Biryani rice. I also wanted the baklava and the Iraqi tea since I don't see hot tea often in texas. It is a tradition in the middle east to have hot tea or turkish coffee following a meal. It helps to digest the food and it also relaxes you. Its sort of how some have a ciggy after food. Surprisingly the tea was quite delicious. It was perfectly made and tasted so grate. You could tell it is authentic iraqi tea. It was also perfect since it's the winter and I work in the oilfield where there is a lot of smoke in the air. It cleared my lungs and warmed me. The shawarma is not your typical off the stick on a grill shawarma or al pastor style. However, it was very well marinated. Both the chicken and the beef melts in your mouth and has a very good taste. The rice was also cooked amazingly and is full of flavors. The hummus is definitely home made. It is so delicious. The food didn't feel fatty or oily. It wasn't a small portion but not a huge portion. It is a very good size, where you could have some left overs if you want. The grape leaves are also delicious. I'd definitely go there often. The pricing was very moderate. For a great meal, it wasn't expensive as I thought a restaurant in Midland would be. I had dessert, appetizer, a meal, coke and hot tea for roughly over 20. Trying so many middle eastern restaurants in the U.S thay some have failed my expectations, this one definitely is on my list to go...

First of, it’s about time that Midland got a Mediterranean Restaurant, so that’s a big plus. I’ve been flying through here for 9 years and this is the first time to see a Mediterranean option on Google maps. Well done.
Now for the food.
To be fair, I’m spoiled by all the good Mediterranean restaurants in the DFW area, so take this with a grain of salt - or some garlic sauce and Tzaziki, lol.
I ordered the Lamb Gyro over Saffron rice, with the side choice of hummus and a salad of Tabouli, and “Iraqi tea.”
The first impression was that for the price, the portions were ok, maybe a tad small, but that’s ok. I was a bit surprised that it came in plastic containers and we weren’t initially provided with utensils, which would be an immediate service improvement.
The gyro meat didn’t taste very strongly of lamb, but was nicely seasoned and certainty not bad. It was on top of the rice with some tomatoes and yogurt sauce.
The saffron rice was good, and I chose to mix it with the hummus, which turned out nicely. The hummus itself was a tad bland, but definitely not bad. It favors those who aren’t into as many spices - like the hummus with paprika on top that I had last night in Dallas.
The tabouli - which is a favorite dish of mine - was the biggest letdown as it was reasonably expensive for the amount in the plastic bowl, and also a bit bland. A bit more lemon juice or something would help it tremendously.
Overall, it’s probably three and a half stars for me, but I’m giving this a four instead of a three, because it’s currently the best Mediterranean food at a restaurant in Midland or anywhere nearby and perhaps it will improve as they get established.
Regarding the Iraqi Tea - it basically tasted identical to the Earl Gray tea I had back in Dallas...
Read moreYes, that's correct, five stars! In the morning I will be unloading my first stop to Heroes' neighbor. I try, and usually do get to the first stop the night before, and then find a local eatery. After reading the reviews, how could I not try this establishment. When first walking in here, aside from the clean and orderly atmosphere, the scents that come to you from the spices and herbs is a most welcome greeting! The young lady is also very friendly and helpful with regards toward helping you navigate through their menu. By her explanation, the cuisine is an assortment of Greek and middle eastern fare. I can now say that I've eaten shawarma AND very much enjoyed it! I highly recommend having the Iraqi tea at the end of your meal. I'm not a fan of sweet, so I ordered it half sweet and it suited me perfectly! My wife I suspect would prefer the traditional full sweet Iraqi tea. I will MOST DEFINITELY be taking my wife here for our next out of town date night! This place is certainly an excellent addition to Midland and I look forward to returning! May God bless their path ahead with joy...
