Charlas Restaurante & Bar — Restaurant in Midland

This place is the most authentic Mexican I have found in Midland. No Tex Mex here, closer to what my friends mom's made in new Mexico when I was a kid. The service was great, our server was delightfully sweet and attentive. I got the combo with five choices and chose the beef taco, guacamole, Chile rellano, beef enchilada and cheese quesadilla. The red sauce on the enchilada was home made from Chile's in house. The Chile rellano was made fresh and tasty. The guacamole was made just as we ordered it, bright green and fresh.

The wife got the brisket tacos and they were a bit oily but overall tasty. The salsa is great and the tomatillo salsa they send with the plate is amazing. If you want Tex Mex this is not the place. If you want good, homemade Mexican this...

Great service food was ok but I hate to do this to a business that has been around 19 years but I have to do.I had multiple bar nats land on my food and instead of putting them on blast I secretly wrote a message so that bartender can see.his reply was that EVERY bar and restaurant was bad on bar nats especially because of the rain a couple of weeks...the fact that I had the courtesy to let him know before he got more complaints and try to treat me as if this is my first rodeo really pi$$ed me off..I bartended for over 13 years and I know bar nats don't just appear out of nowhere like that...its simple as this....your business needs some deep tlc cleaning...I felt sick the rest of the day because of what I...

Used to love going to Charlas atleast once a week, the caldo de res,menudo and steak plate were always great, the last 2 times I went I got charged for things I didn't order but was told that was because prices went up and hadn't reflected yet so they had to add it that way, I thought it was weird so we stopped going for a while,well I'm sick and wanted some caldo de res, the soup its self tastes like there is some type of chemical in it maybe soap or cleaning agent im not sure but it tasted awful along with the potatoes and carrots not even being cooked just hard and raw still, really done eating and ordering Togo from here,place has gone down hill. 0/10 do...
