Riley's bar makes you feel like you are amongst old friends from the minute you walk in no matter who you are.
Don't get me wrong, chain restaurants and bars have their place but the prices are usually high and the person sitting next to you or even the person behind the bar may not be there next time you come in.
And other local bars can be cool too but if your not a regular or a certain type of person, you can easily be made to feel like an outsider.
What makes Riley's so special though is not that they try to go out of their way to make you feel welcome, it's just the way they are. The regular patrons and staff have somehow managed to create an environment where judgment is nonexistent and it brings out the best in people.
All this would be for naught of course if they didn't have great drinks and food. Their food and drinks are really good and also done in their unique way. Food is ordered from a menu board in the patio area so don't bother asking to see a menu. And they have the best micheladas I've ever had!
If you have a weird work schedule, it's quite accommodating as well because it's open till 2 am every night!
Personally, it's hard for me to find a place I feel comfortable in just being myself. To say that I felt comfortable in Riley's from the first time I went is saying a lot. This rare find welcomes everyone with open arms and just makes you feel like you're supposed to be there.
The pic is a perfect example of just how "non-chain-like"...

I’ve been going to Riley’s for over 30 years, and somehow this place just keeps getting better with age. It’s the perfect casual spot to grab a cold beer or Bloody Mary with friends and enjoy some good music. I’ve never tried the food myself, but my dad is a regular—first in line on Sundays and back again during the week, so that says something!
Just a heads up: smoking is allowed in the bar area, so if that’s not your thing, consider yourself warned. Personally, I’ve always had a great time and made tons of fun memories here...
Read moreI sat at the bar for 10 minutes with no help. But when I got up to leave then I was asked if there was something i needed. I came for the jalapeño poppers that are shown on the reviews. I was disappointed the kitchen was closed the day before Independence Day. But it’s understandable this is Texas and this is the most patriotic state in the homeland and I’m from Utah. They only had lone star beer in a can which was sad :( but the music and atmosphere was there. It was good but it wasn’t the best. I do plan on coming back hopefully that will change my review for...
