We went for our first time to celebrate New Year’s with a group of friends. They asked if we’d like to start with a cocktail; I asked what sipping tequilas they had, she stated let me go check, came back with two recommendations & I chose the Don Julio 1942.(I didn’t realize she could have brought me a drink menu) Next, my friend & I had a salmon dish, the salmon was way overcooked & having both been in restaurant business, we asked for a new dish. The owner apologized & explained they had a new cook on the grill that had just been promoted & it was absolutely overcooked We get it. It happens. We all had another round of cocktails & then got the bill. My tequila was $55 a glass! I took it up with the owner & he showed me the drink menu with the price clearly stated very rudely, not asking questions or listening. I didn’t want to make a scene any bigger than he was making it, so we paid & left. I sure wish our waitress had shown me that drink menu first & I would have chosen something different. An entire bottle is about $150. Needless to say, we won’t be back since the owner was extremely rude & rigid. I would have been happy to pay $30-maybe $40, but $55 tells me all I need to know. I’ve had this plenty of times at other places and nowhere is it $55 a shot. This was our second time being ripped off by this owner; another situation occurred at a former Waxahachie restaurant. You know what they say…fool me once…
It’s unfortunate because restaurant business is tough, they have good food, but integrity counts for me. I wish there were a category for that, which is why my rating is an overall 3. Maybe it was our punishment for sending back the...
Read moreMy husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary, and we couldn’t be happier. I’ve been disappointed over and over by the food quality in Midlothian, but this spot did not disappoint.
First, our server, Logan was really helpful in describing items on the menu, giving recommendations, and being attentive for the full dinner.
We ordered the calamari as a starter and it reminded us of the calamari we had at the Capital Grille - flaky, well-seasoned, and with mini sweet red peppers that added great bursts of flavor. It’s served with a delicious buttermilk jalapeño ranch sauce. Mo also brought us out his famous Focaccia for our anniversary on the house (so sweet!). It was DELICIOUS - the bread was so good, and the basil spread was a stand out and paired so well with the cheese and tomatoes - all the flavors played so well together.
For our entree, I ordered a special (farafelle with pork) and my husband got the NY strip. The pasta was delicious - so flavorful and the homemade pasta was cooked perfectly. The NY Strip was super tender and the fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside. chef’s kiss
I also ordered a cocktail: the blueberry bourbon reviver. I loved it - sweet but not that sickly syrupy sweet and with great smokiness from the bourbon.
The ambience was also great. Many family pictures of Mo making it feel welcoming, but nice table and chairs (super comfortable chairs) making it feel fancier. And the Frank Sinatra playing made it feel like a real Italian bistro.
My hubby said this is his new favorite restaurant in Midlothian, and I have to agree. Will definitely be...
Read moreHow do I even begin? This restaurant was absolutely outstanding! It was my birthday and my parents live in Midlothian so we drove down from Dallas for my birthday celebratory dinner. It was our first time at Mo and Hari's and believe me, they did not disappoint! From the service to the atmosphere, to the food, everything was top notch. Growing up in the area and not being back for several years, at least for a night out for dinner, I must admit I was so ultimately impressed! Mo and Hari's is on par if not better than some of the 5 star Italian restaurants in Dallas! Everything was so delicious and house made. Handmade pasta & bread, fresh salads... the lasagna was unlike anything I had ever had before, just scrumptious! Our server Jennifer was wonderful and her descriptions of the menu items were described so eloquently, she had my mouth watering! Jennifer was so attentive and so very kind and personable. We absolutely loved her! The most important thing I would like to mention is my stepfather is having some dementia issues and Jennifer and the manager Derrick were so kind and attentive to our needs. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness, compassion, patience and understanding during our visit. I cannot recommend Mo and Hari's enough! Do give them a try! I promise, they will not disappoint. Thank you Mo and Hari's you are truly a diamond in the rough and we...
