Opted to eat in a restaurant, instead of my cooler food, to get out of the heat for a while during my travels. This place was right across the street from where I was parked and had great reviews so I gave it a try. The reviews said they had something for everyone with their diverse menu. Not quite. They do not have something for vegetarians, unless you enjoy eating salad everyday of your life. I don't know about you, but when I spend money to eat out, I like to have something I don't get very often or don't cook well myself. Anyway, there are very few options for vegetarians at this restaurant. Even the chili sauce on the baked potato has a meat base. Having said that, however, I can't speak highly enough about the service at this place. I was served by a woman named Joanne, who was delightful. Everyone who worked there was so friendly and upbeat it made it a joy to eat there. I ended up having deep fried vegetables, which is an appetizer for 4.99. I was expecting four, maybe five or six pieces of vegetable. Instead, I got a plate that had at least 12 pieces on it. They were slightly too salty for my taste but, other than that, we're absolutely delicious. I was stuffed by the time I was done and could not eat my main course, which was a giant baked potato without their chili or bacon on it. I did learn, after the fact, that their lasagna can also be made without meat. Apparently, they cook everything from scratch. In spite of The Limited options for me as a vegetarian, I think I would probably try to eat there again since they seem so willing to change the meals to your needs. Also, the restrooms were very clean. The only small downside was that the place was not as cool as I was hoping. I was still a bit warm inside when my whole goal was to get cooler. Lol. All in all, I recommend this place highly for meat eaters or anyone who wants a try at salad or modified meals without meat. Also, they did have a spinach salad that looked very good. I just wasn't...
Read moreAs of 7/2/21 - I would like to revise my previous review. I do not know what has happened to this restaurant. They used to have really delicious, homemade food. Have they changed hands? Was it a different cook? I heard the waitress mention he was in a bad mood. I don't know but the last two times we have been in there the food has been far less than WOW! This time I bragged to my girlfriend about how delicious the food was only to be embarrassed by the low quality of food as well as the service. The waitress was sweet but not a great waitress. When we got there the place was empty. We order a plate of pancakes to split. We each order the side of fruit and an egg. And I ordered a side of bacon, which I never got. The waitress brought each item out separately. First she brought the pancakes. I asked for silverware so I could spread my butter while the pancake was still hot. Then she brought out two eggs each, neither one were cooked to order. We sent them back. Her eggs were served 3 to 4 minutes before mine. We still didn't have silverware so I got it myself. The fruit wasn't even fresh it was canned pineapple. The last time we were there I ordered the burrito special. It was whole beans wrapped in a tortilla and deep-fried. The beans were over cooked and kind of had the consistency of a rock. The green and red chili sauces were lame to say the least. What happened to the fresh food they used to serve? Just saying...

Read moreWOW is definitely an accurate name for this retro looking diner. I walked in and was immediately greeted by friendly smiles and was told I could sit anywhere I liked. After looking over the menu I decided that since I was in New Mexico I may as well try the local flavor of Mexican style food. I ordered the meat and bean burrito with green chile. The traditional rice and beans was offered as a side so I went with it. It took a few minutes longer than I anticipated for my food to arrive but I'll chalk that up to the fact that the place was packed. I was very pleased with the portion size. The burrito alone was more than enough to fill my belly. I had overheard one server telling another guest about a raspberry cheesecake dessert so I inquired about it after my meal. It turns out that it's a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. My eyes immediately lit up with excitement. I ordered the cheesecake and was not disappointed. It was without a doubt the best cheesecake I've had in a really long time. For me, the most important thing I must consider is the physical location of the diner. As a truck driver, being located right across the street from a rather large truck stop was definitely a good choice for these entrepreneurs. If I get through this area again I will definitely be back. I'll also be recommending this dining establishment to all of my fellow truck drivers that I know. Overall I must applaud the owners for their commitment to quality food and great customer service. Both of which are a rare encounter for today's...
