My friends and I were so excited to try this place on New Year's Eve day. We were there before they opened and were the 1st table sat at 11:30am. We were probably the 2nd to order as maybe 6-7 more tables were sat pretty quickly after opening. The place is cute with beachy vibe and they still had holiday decor up as well. The waitress was pleasant. We received our drinks and my friends and I were catching up and food began coming out to tables. I didn't think much of it when people who sat after us received their food thinking what we ordered probably needed more cooking time. Friends had a coffee refills and when I checked the time it had been about 30min since we ordered. Every other table was well into their meal. I caught our waitress passing through and asked if she knew what was taking so long? She said something about the kitchen making scrambled eggs instead of eggs over medium and she had them remake it. "Remake all of our food?" I asked. "No, just hers" looking at my friend. I was baffled. Eggs only take a few min to fry and the rest of our food could have been served while that was remedied. It was another 10min before our food came and it was cold. Well more like room temperature. So we waited over 40min for cold food. And the person's eggs that were supposedly the hold up had a long hair across her food. She has short hair that was slicked back and my other friend and I had our hair pulled into a tight bun. We called the waitress over. She apologized for the hair took the plate away and asked if she wanted them to remake it or order something else but she had lost her appetite by this point. My other friend asked if he food could be warmed up and they did and remade her poached eggs and I ate my food cold bc I was starving. I've waitressed and worked in restaurant kitchens. I know it wasn't the wait staff's fault about the food but there could have been better communication or an offer to bring some food out. The "Belgian waffle" looked like a frozen product that was warmed up. I couldn't tell if my salad was overdressed or if the spring mix had wilted because it sat too long with the dressing but the "meat and potatoes" was ok. My other friend that ate her warmed up food said it was ok. Not a...
Read moreThis is my first time ever writing a review and I'm sad it's a poor review about Bonfire. I have always enjoyed my meals here in the past but the last two experiences within the same month has ruined it for me. My family and I came here twice in the month of May to celebrate. The first trip: service wasn't too bad. Appetizers were good, entrees weren't. Two burgers were ordered well-done, both came out medium. Okay, maybe it was an off day and wasn't anything to complain about. Second trip: came right after my college graduation to celebrate. I couldn't be served a cocktail because they wouldn't accept my CT issued pistol permit? That is a government issued ID (minimum age of 21 to receive it) and they wouldn't accept it. Okay, I guess it's my fault for not having an ID they believe is acceptable. Appetizers were good again, great fried pickles. Meals came out, another disappointment. Because of trip 1, everyone checked their burgers to make sure they were cooked right. One had raw chunks in it. There was no question about it. When it was brought up to the waiters attention, we were told it was going back on the grill because there were bites taken out of it so they will not make a new one (no bites were taken, it was clearly raw as can be, it was visibly cut in half). After informing them that no bites were taken, we were then told a new one was going to be made. That came out more than halfway through everyone's meal. This second burger was almost fully raw and much worse than the first one. We are never ones to return food or ask for a new one but that was completely unacceptable. We couldn't believe it. The waiter took it back and was going to still charge us for it. The cod from the fish and chips was some of the worst fish. Lesson learned: Bonfire isn't the same anymore and has gone...
Read moreI’m so so upset about our visit tonight to Bonfire. We came in around 630/7 and were offered a table on the rooftop which was really nice! Unfortunately that’s where it ended. Our poor server, although very nice took a long time to greet us and take our order. When he came up we knew what we wanted, so we ordered our meals (he was serving tables not only upstairs but down as well so I’m sure he was hustling). He brought our two kids’ apple juices, but told us they ran out of glasses and we had to wait for our water and Diet Coke. About 5 min later, the server for the table next to us came up with drinks for a table of about 6 people, and we had ordered our drinks before they were seated 🤔. We ordered two kids meals cheeseburgers, one with a gluten free bun, a California chicken sandwich and the Frito burger. It started to storm, so rather than ask for a table downstairs because they knew we were super busy, we asked for our food to go. We ordered our food at roughly 7:30ish, and because of the storm, came downstairs to wait for our food. We didn’t get our food until about 830/845. We left quickly after that since we had waited for so long, but realized when we got home that the cheeseburger kids meal with the gluten free bun was not labeled, so I had to throw the bun away on one of them so my daughter could eat it. My husband went to go eat his Frito burger and there was no chili, just a cheeseburger with Fritos on top 🫠I’m so disappointed and upset that we spent $95 to wait for our food for so long, only for it to be wrong in the end. We won’t be returning, which is sad because our past experiences have been fine, but this was such an expensive mess we can’t risk it...
