OK... I'll try to be objective but blunt. Those who swoon over this place obviously don't venture very far afield.. Yes, the aesthetics are rustic and inviting. Kudos on the looks. That's pretty much where it ends. Most beers were over sweet, over flavored and over priced. If I'm paying 8 bucks for an IPA (or the closest thing they have to an IPA) and 18 bucks for an oversized pretzel with some crab meat on it I at least would like it brought to my table, not stand in a cafeteria line for 15 minutes to get it from one of only 2 people behind the bar. Well actually, you can't really even call it a bar because there are no barstools, and you can't actually drink there, let alone a true bartender to converse with and answer your questions. Just a beer pourer and an iPad. It's obvious they are trying to save labor costs at every turn. No table service or waitstaff of any kind. But they do provide dish racks for you to deposit glassware and silverware after bussing your own table after your overpriced experience. (how thoughtful) Absolutely zero customer service or any form of "Welcome to Floating Feathers, What can I get you?" . Oh, and do you not only have to stand in the cattle line to order your beverage and food of choice, you are also forced to stand in the same line once again to cash out if you didn't "pay as you go '.. Trust me, I've traveled to COUNTLESS breweries up and down the east coast and will always give a local place a fair try but the owners could take a few lessons from many others in the Central PA region (Otto's, Happy Valley, Bullfrog, Jackass, Rusty Rail, Berwick... I could go on and on) but I guess the thing that set me off the most was the shameless offer of a free Floating Feathers sticker in exchange for a 5 star Google review!!! Nope, I can't be bought with a "sticker" like I'm a 2nd...
Read morechose to try this brewery since it was close to home. venue was nice, next to the creek was very relaxing. nice outdoor seating on covered patio or at picnic tables in the grass. did not matter where you chose to sit, they only had high top seating with either tractor seat stools or metal bucket chairs. either one is uncomfortable seating to enjoy beer and food. I asked for a lager and was given a pale yellow beer that wasn't very flavorful. we also ordered a beer flight and carmel apple cider. the cider was VERY sweet. I tried the chocolate peanut butter cheecake beer - not good. none of the beer in the flight were good, one was flat. we ordered beer cheese fries which were very hot but cheese sauce was rich and too thick to cover fries, became clumpy. the chicken notchos were good but very salty and the chicken tasted like frozen processed precooked, very mushy. we were also dismayed at the handicap accommodations. yes, they have a wooden ramp at the main entrance. however, it is not flush with the macadam and the blacktop is not level and has a water pipe in the middle, very danderous and unsafe. if you are in a scooter chair or using a walker, the front door is hung backwards and opens towards you. there is no room to make a turn on the porch without possibly falling down the front steps. it would be better to move handicap parking on the other side of the outdoor patio and come in the patio door --- everything is level. staff was super nice and very appologinic. probably won't...
Read moreThe man who was working behind the bar on August 2nd was incredibly rude to my mother who has celiac disease, meaning that she is allergic to gluten. He made what could have been a lovely experience sour due to his rudeness and ignorance. He was asked what on the menu was gluten free— a basic and easy answer would be cider and seltzers which are almost always gluten free. Instead, he responded with an attitude and said, “I don’t know about that.” In this day and age, that is a simple question for some who who works at a brewery. I find it hard to believe he’s never been asked this before. When he was told that he needs to educate himself on gluten free needs that as he is a seller, he said, “No I don’t need to educate myself, I’m not gluten free, you need to know that, I don’t.” I mean, anyone with basic customer service skills might have thought that in their head but still went to get a list of gluten free or ask a manager for information. To say this to a customers face is ridiculously inept and ignorant on its own, but to be in a position where you are selling expensive items to be consumed and not have any knowledge whatsoever about any gluten free options is incredibly unimpressive and unprepared. We will not be coming back and will take any opportunity to share our lacking experience with this staff member to anyone who may ask. Incredibly disappointing, the business should be ashamed to employ people who speak to perfectly nice customers with...
