The Wife and I visited on a Monday at 7:30 in the evening. We took a seat at the bar and ordered a Shirley Temple for the Wife and a Brandy Old fashioned sweet for myself. Cocktail was delicious so I had to have twoš Asked the bartender if she could switch the TV channel to the ballgame since the bar was mostly empty and she gladly did. The bartender offered us the opportunity to enjoy our evening dinner at the bar so we gladly accepted. The dinning room was about 1/4 full when we arrived towards the end of the dinner rush on a Monday. We asked the bartender for a recommendation off the appetizer menu and she recommended the homemade deep fried mushrooms or cheese curds. So we had both! Turned out to be an excellent choice. They offer prime rib daily, so that's a bonus! I ordered the Emperor cut, medium rare with sauteed onions and mushrooms with a side of horseradish. ( Coarse or creamy) my choice of sides was the veggies and a cup of baked french onion soup. The soup arrived piping hot with a thick layer of perfectly browned cheese. The prime rib was placed in front of me a few minutes after I finished the French onion. Now this is a mountain of meat (24oz) that reminded me of Devil's Tower! An excellent added touch was the bowl of au jus that came with it. Not a little bowl or plastic cup that overflows everytime you drunk a chunk, but a big bowl! The meat was warm and tender with a nice little ring of seasoned fat wrapped around. The Wife's dish was the stuffed shrimp which she said was good. I was to busy with that tower of perfection to try any of the Wife's meal. We'll definitely be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm struggling between a 2 or 3 star. I'm going with 3 because we ordered non traditional supper Club meals which may not be the best representation of what this restaurant can do. Our young server was inexperienced but attentive. The bus person did a great job of clearing dirty dishes. The fresh bread and garlic/parmesan/cheddar butter was wonderful. It did take forever to find out they could not make the featured cocktail listed on the board. We started with the bacon wrapped prime rib bites. Bacon was tasty and done perfectly. The prime was not trimmed with large chunks of fat and gristle. We would have liked a bit more of the very tasty sauce used to decorate the serving dish. I had the spinach salad with hot bacon dressing and the prime and vegetable soup as my sides. Both were delicious. My main course was the spicy chicken carbonara. The spice was just right, the chicken moist and tender, bacon done well but it was very, very salty and missing the peas. My friend had the scallops au gratin which she enjoyed very much. Her sides were tossed salad with home made thousand island dressing, potato pancakes (missing apple sauce or syrup), very good baked French onion soup and very burnt green beans. We paid an upcharge for extra sides. For the prices they charge, they did not meet our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe outside of the restaurant is so cozy looking, on a small town bustling main street ,with it's flickering outdoor lights welcoming you inside. This is where the delight of the experience ended for me.
Then.... You walk in to a loud over crowded average looking restaurant. I was so disappointed, especially because of all the hype from friends about this place. Let me tell you something folks, their ain't nothin special about this place at all. The decor is drab, dreary, old and cheap. The seating and tables look like they borrowed them from a church basement cafeteria.
We had 8 people in our group, they put 2 tables together to make one large table. The two tables didn't line up correctly so when the waitress brought a pitcher of water, she set it down on the uneven part of the table and it spilled all over.
I ordered the ribeye, medium rare. My friend to my right also ordered the same. They both arrived so dry and overcooked, I needed two glasses of water to eat it. He sent his back, I just ate mine as to not cause any more of a scene.
The Mac and cheese was very good. My wife ordered fish which was also very good and the potatoes.
The service was good but overall, I would not recommend this restaurant "...
