Soul Good Kitchen — Restaurant in Milwaukee

Ordered food a little before 4pm and the person who took the phone order said it would be ready in 15-20 minutes. Waited 25 minutes before even leaving the house and arrived at 4:30. The doors were locked and there was a cone blocking the drive-thru even though the business is advertised as being open until 5:00pm.

My son had to get out of the vehicle to move the cone. Upon approaching the window the woman just stared at me. She didn’t greet me or ask if she could help me. I gave her my order number and she told me the price. I paid for the order and she told me it would be another five minutes.

They make you pull around to the parking lot and give you a buzzer. She was very unpleasant and said, “walk to the window when the buzzer go off “. Currently there are four other cars parked and waiting.

This place is unprofessional and the staff act as if you’re irritating or bothering them by patronizing their business. On top of that my mother was calling and I could hear the phone ringing and they intentionally did not answer.

A woman brought my food out eventually and she did not smile, did not apologize for the delay, and did not seem to care. She wanted to see my receipt gave my food and then just stared at me. After a few seconds she said “buzzer “…and I completely forgot i had their buzzer because the thing never buzzed. She just randomly brought out food and had to guess which car it belonged to.

The entire experience was terrible and the food was not that great! The price for two dinners totaled $48. That was the last time i will be patronizing this restaurant and I will not recommend this place to...

This was by far the most disgusting soul food I’ve ever had here. I mean I was absolutely disappointed. And I’ve tried them all from Stella J’s to Speed Queen to Pass da Peas to The Bungalow. This was unacceptable! My mom picked an order up for me yesterday while she finished her errands in this area. She said someone in the restaurant kept talking about how good the beans were and he came in ordered a large pinto beans, that’s it. I asked if they had smothered chicken and she said no but they do sell a half pound of baked chicken so I went with that, mashed potatoes and gravy and red beans and rice. When I opened my container I noticed what had to have been the most unseasoned and undone looking pale chicken I’ve ever saw. I was so upset, I seasoned it and put it back in my oven under broil for about 20 minutes. I had to season my other food as well. The food was extremely lukewarm/cool. On first few bites I was upset I had to give my mom back $15 for this plate. It was sooo not worth it. Food wasted and went into the trash. My mom ordered smothered pork chops with the coldest stalest stiffest gravy and yams with pinto beans. Stiffest yams ever and she didn’t like her beans. My sister ordered fried catfish and Mac n cheese and she said she had to throw it out and she’s far from a complainer. We even have a 2 yr old here that didn’t want it and that’s rare. We tried with this place but nope never again...I enjoy indulging in hot flavorful food and I’ll never return or...

Seeing the mixed reviews so I decided to give as honest a review as I could.

What I ordered was the smothered pork which another reviewer mentioned tasted great, with a side of Mac & Cheese, and collard greens(which another reviewer mentioned tasted like fish) I'll review each item I had.

The pork was average tasting. I would say it was a step above cafeteria level. It was a little bland in my opinion. It was HOT and cooked through.

The collard greens were awful. The experience was like eating bad tasting medicine. The actual taste was hard to describe... It wasn't good though.

The Mac & Cheese was average. It tasted like the cheap Mac and Cheese you get from the store and cook yourself. The cheese sauce was thin. Like cheese water almost.

The corn bread offered with the meal was dry. The flavor wasn't bad though. It was shaped like a pancake and had a slight searing on the edge. It was overall good even with the dry texture. Would have been nice if they offered some butter with it or something.

Overall it was a below average experience eating this food. It was also kind of expensive. The total cost was $16 and change. Don't think I'll be going there again. There are WAY better food options close by. Like within 3 miles or so. There is also a super market in the same...
