This is that mom and pop restaurant where everything is old school...even getting a job, you have to physically go in ask for a job app sit down fill it out and have a real life conversation with a Iverson about yourself. Places like this are over missed a lot, but little doyou know people and how quickly we forget...down home cooking. A lot of people think mom and pop=old people. Yes and No. Old anything just means it's seasoned with love, time and what you used to getat home, your grandparents house, great-grands (if your lucky to still have them and they teach you stuff) of a childhood friends housewhere you learned something or even helped make it andit was better than something deep fried in fat making the flavor (i got you thinking huh)!!! Well i came in one morning cause my parents raved about the lunch and dinner food, unfortunately i have to wait another day for that, in the mean time I'll grab a sweet treat. They have these apple bars that are sale for celebrating 23 years buy one get one for .23 for running years. You walk in and the bakery is up front, dining in the back. Breads, deli meats, pastries, homemade peanut butter, signature sweet and spice pretzels and wonderful customer service. So back to the apple pie bar.... After i grabbed and drooled over other items i picked up and then had to make myself stop lol! Raisin cinnamon bread (French toast is calling), vanilla pound cake(did sunshine say ice cream or strawberries and whipped cream), hommade peanut butter(need i say more), and the pretzels(doing my happy dance)and of course the reason i came in... The Apple pie bars(granny Smith apples and perfection is born)!!! They have this down to a science. Not bitter at all right amount of sugar so it doesn't drown out the flavor of the apples, just the right amount of spice! We live so much on our phones nite we don't know what it's like to put the phone down, look up at each other and have a conversation with the person you're with and we forget to look around to find the great mom and pop places to eat to do that. Stop in and let the drooling...
Read moreOur first visit after a recommendation to Crossroads for the Cabbage Rolls. We ordered that, and a Rueben, believing the odds were that if we didn't like one, we would like the other.
The cabbage rolls were bland and unremarkable, and we did not care for the "borscht" broth, which is slightly sweet, and didn't satisfy either of us.
Sadly, the Reuben was a mountain of saurkraut and swiss cheese. Their take on what should have been a grilled sandwich. I could see the corned beef, but it's flavor was blocked by the cheese. I needed a side of Thousand Island dressing, to add any flavor.
Ironically the best part of the meal was the fresh bread they served to "nosh" while we waited for our order.
I usually do not partake, but it was fresh and delicious.
Kudos to the comfortable decor, and good service. In the future I may try the baked goods or the broasted chicken. I don't want to give up you yet.
I am so hoping we find a new restaurant with reliably good food between home and work.

Read moreThe fries were great! The poor guy at the deli counter was as friendly as I would expect considering how much they had him doing. My sandwich was ok, I had the BLTC the croissant was good but everything else was blah, and to not season anything on a sandwich is a crime. It took a half hour for my food, but I get it and I'm not mad about it considering the situation. I overheard a supervisor saying if only the government would stop paying people not to work, they wouldn't have the issues they have with staffing. I would say offer to pay more, food service workers deserve better pay and benefits, especially here where the people behind me we're not treating the guy working the counter very well. I liked this place, it had/still has great baked goods, but it's sliding and not moving forward with the times, which saddens me. Food service workers are people, and deserve a living wage...
