Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que — Restaurant in Minnetonka

I love Famous Dave's. To estimate that I have been to one location or another 200 times is probably a gross underestimate. I would say that my latest experience represents a continuing trend I have noticed. .

1. Appearance of the restaurant: This particular Famous Dave's on Highway 7 in Minnetonka, has remodel themselves over the course of the last year. There's significantly less decoration, they have painted the walls and ceilings white and it certainly lightened up the place. Honestly, I don't find this to be a good thing. I liked the homey feel and the cabin-like look of the restaurant. They have also added televisions on the wall of the main dining area, which I find to be an unwelcome distraction. It now feels more cafeteria-ish with wood accents than like a BBQ restaurant in a cabin. .
2. Service: I have found the customer service at the Minnetonka store to be exemplary. My most recent visit was no change in that. Our waitress was excellent, prompt, attentive. Everything one could hope for. This is been largely true at this location more than most over the last 15 years that I have been dining there. .
3. Food presentation: The food at Famous Dave's continues to look prettier and prettier when served. Nice progress. .
4. Over the last one to two years, the food quality has been slipping. We went through an issue at this for about a year about 10 years ago across most metro locations, that largely got corrected. This trend seems to be lasting longer and while the food looks excellent when it's served it tends to be more dry, the ribs tend to be less meaty and less ?fresh? tasting, and the sauce flavor has changed. Again, not a good thing. I also loved and frequently ordered the hot link sausage. That has been slowly removed from the menu over the last several years, becoming more and more marginalized. Appearing on fewer and fewer entrees... It's now gone entirely, and I miss it. Certainly that's not a deal-breaker for my wanting to go out for barbecue, that, coupled with the other things makes me want it less often then I otherwise would patronize the restaurant chain. . I hope there's someone at the restaurant who reads this review and the cares enough to make good changes towards better food and continuation of the quality of the brand. . . *The "owner" responded to this review with: "Response from the owner 16 minutes ago W, thanks for the review! Went on Sunday for a family dinner. It was our first time at this location. We wanted to sit out at the patio. Our server name was Andy T, he had a rainbow short mohawk, at first I felt like it was going good but he was really unprofessional and we felt rushed, from ordering to even eating. we ordered some drinks and the family feast , and some appetizers, the food was good don’t get me wrong but he made it feel like we couldn’t enjoy the food, because we were rushed the whole time, so that’s why in giving it one star, he didn’t grab all the extra plates and silverware that was finished from appetizers on the table that was in our way even though I seen him look at it a couple times and still proceeded not to pick them up for us to have more room for our large order and for us to eat and enjoy the food. We ate and had a lot left over. There’s 4 people total at the table we asked for boxes to go he came back with 2 boxes, MAKE IT MAKE SENSE! There are 4 people plus extra food from the middle of the feast ! I had to wait for him to come back just to ask for 2 boxes again and some side bowls to go and he couldn’t give us a bag for all the food we ordered. It’s COMMON SENSE. We still had our drinks to finish and was just relaxing and conversating and he proceeded to rush us with our bill, how does he know if wanted to order more drinks or not ? He rushed us and asked how we were going to pay. I told him cash, he says no rush but proceeded to come out to see if we paid when clearly we are just trying to enjoy eachothers company, if you said no rush why did we all feel like we was rushed ? Our bill was 147$ and I gave him 150$ cash because his service was trash, I’m always about giving a great tip only if it’s deserved. We got done packing and ready to leave and he comes out and asked if we were going to pay towards my boyfriend when clearly the cash was on the table with the receipt !! That pisses me off and irritated me that he would even say that and wants to be judgmental and think that we were going to dine and dash or whatever but clearly he had bad service towards us for a reason! Exactly why I tipped the way I did and if I was going to be a complete b*tch I would have gave exactly of how much was on the bill because clearly he didn’t deserve anything . Hi there, let me say this to start I've been going to Famous Dave's in different parts of the country ever since they opened. Now what I've come to find out is that there's no in between with the food it's either very good or it's very bad there's no in between. I usually order the St Louis ribs and I must say that my last visit they were absolutely terrible I don't know if they changed their distributor or their style of the way they make these but it just didn't taste right. So I went to the baby backs, and they were not good either. Now in the past with the St Louis ribs I've had an excellent experience getting the center cut which I normally order however as I mentioned last night they were terrible. The only reason that I gave this establishment a 2 rating is because Stacy my waitress was excellent and she offered to make things right but I didn't want to even finish the baby back she brought. I'll probably give them another shot somewhere down the line but I hope they do something to change the St Louis ribs as far as the way they're presented and the...
