I used to really like this place, but the last time I went ruined it for me. Decent food, but horrible service.
I had been last year with a friend and used a e-gift card that had been sent to me by two friends. It was one of those online ones that can be purchased for various local restaurants. My friends sent it to me for The Loretto because they saw I lived near it. When I went with a friend, I didn't use the full gift card, so the waiter at the time gave me my receipt back, on which he had written the remaining balance. He said to bring that receipt back with me the next I came to use the remaining balance.
I went back last month with my mom. She was visiting me from out of town, and since I knew I had around $30 left on the gift card, I decided to take her to The Loretto. Our food was alright, and the service was pretty good... until we go to pay. I explained the gift card situation to the waiter and gave him the receipt with the remaining balance written on it. He went to check with the manager and came back to ask me for the original gift card. I explained to him that it was not a physical card, but an e-card, and I no longer had the email since the waiter before had told me to only bring back the receipt, and it would be fine.
The waiter refused to honor the remaining balance, at which point I asked to speak to his manager. He was not available, but the waiter supposedly called the owner. The owner apparently said that they could not honor the remaining balance if I did not have a physical card. I explained again, I did not have a physical card, it was an online gift card. At this point, my mom and I were extremely frustrated. Since it seemed like this wasn't going anywhere, we paid and got out of there.
As my mom said, no restaurant that's doing well would refuse to honor a $30 gift card balance. So, either The Loretto is not doing well (we went on a Sunday night and were the one of two tables), or they just have horrible management that doesn't know how to treat their customers. Safe to say, I won't be returning to The Loretto. Plenty of other great places in the Valley for brunch,...
Read moreRICARDO SAVED MY MOTHER’S DAY! Where do I begin? Arrived for my 11 am OPENTABLE reservation. Showed them on my phone, had no knowledge of said reservation because the owner/manager does not give employees access to the opentable system. Asked for management, supervisor, owner, anyone! They said there is no such person right now. THAT IS INCREDIBLE, literally. Asked a second person, same answer. I showed the the open table app where it said the restaurant had been booked 11 more times that day to this 2nd person and told him that 11 more groups were going to be upset as well. His answer was: “ I can’t do anything.” We then approached a bus boy and explained the situation. His name is RICARDO. He went out his way to find us a seat, to take out orders, and apologize. He informed us that he needed to clean and that an actual server would take over after he took out orders. That server never came. Ricardo, from inside the restaurant realized this, and came back. Refilled our drinks, asked if we were okay and once again apologized, realizing we were there celebrating Mother’s Day. I would not come back to this place, but the passion, professionalism, and leaderships skills of Ricardo redeemed the unprofessional and unapologetic, and disrespectful manners of THE LORETTO STAFF. We thanked RICARDO, and went on our way. THIS MAN SHOULD BE RUNNING THIS RESTAURANT. Food: was good, fresh, and very aesthetically appealing. Venue: beautiful!...
Read moreHad the worst experience at The Loretto in Mission. I took my team for our holiday party (group of 15). When I made the reservation I explained that we would be playing games, doing a gift exchange, having dinner and would need an extra table for gifts, which we didn’t get. After one game of bingo, the “Owner” came to tell me that we were being too loud and disturbing the other guests. Apparently, we were calling out the bingo numbers too loudly. They proceeded to up the volume of the music to drown us out even after we stopped the games. He wanted us to move to another room after we started eating our appetizers. On a Wednesday night, the other guests consisted of 4 people. It turns out that the rude man was the owner’s son. I explained that I was very specific when I made the reservation about our planned activities and that they should have said they couldn’t accommodate us. After being spoken to so rudely, no fun was had as he totally dampened the mood. His son is not a good businessman. I was paying their bills tonight with my tab of 15 and only 4 other people in the restaurant. I did speak to the real owner on the way out. I introduced myself and told I brought my team to celebrate all their hard work this holiday season and that his son is lacking in communication skills and that he needs to be educated. I would never treat my customers with such disrespect (the way he treated us). And to top it off, I was ...
