Yesterday at 12:19, I called at asked the girl that answered what time they close and was told 8pm. Drove from New Orleans and when we pass, it looks closed so I call again at 1:40 and ask the girl, ARE YOU OPEN? She says yes til 8pm. The door is locked when we arrive because they actually open at 2 but nobody ever mentioned that on the TWO phone calls I made. So my elderly mother eventually made it to the door, which was a task in itself, and then we were met by an older woman with short blond hair and a real attitude. Mrs. Crusty cracks the door and barks that they're not open and sit down while they get ready OK! Well Crustypants, let me tell you, the 83 year old that can barely walk was NOT going to sit in the heat after you barked at us that way. We wanted to support a small local business and YOU could've kindly said "we aren't ready but please sit IN THE A/C and give us a few moments. I’m thinking this was our last time at Cuevas’s Catfish House. They keep on packing them in. In fact, there was a wait to get in. So maybe I’m just spoiled by fresh food, cooked perfectly, in a restaurant that smells good and only costs a few dollars more and they actually have real dinner plates not the sectioned off plates we used in grammar school. Oh. The hush puppies...

If you’re craving Southern comfort food done right, Cuevas Fish House is a must-visit. Their all-you-can-eat catfish is the star of the show—crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. Every bite tastes fresh, perfectly seasoned, and fried to golden perfection.
But what really surprised me was the coleslaw—hands down the best I’ve ever had. It’s cool, crisp, and the perfect balance of tangy and creamy. It pairs perfectly with the catfish and adds a refreshing crunch to every plate.
The service is warm and welcoming, making you feel like family from the moment you walk in. It’s the kind of place that keeps you coming back—not just for the food, but for the feeling.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Cuevas Fish House is worth the stop. Come hungry,...
