Hurley Huddle Sports Grill — Restaurant in Mississippi

This place was great about 2 years ago but now that they hired a bunch of new people they definitely lost their touch. I always get the huddle hole in one salad and there has been multiple instances where they left an ingredient off. They leave avocados off a lot of the time although it says on the menu it comes with avocado and this time I came in they left off pineapple, strawberries, and avocado.. which is like the specialty of the salad, the grilled chicken was also very dry to the point where I could bang it against the table. The fried mushrooms were frozen and when we asked for the kitchen to remake them the waitress never got them to us until we started checking out. Which speaking of the waitress, Cecilia/cilia, she was great but she checked on us 3 times during the one hour we were there. She took our drink order, gave us our food, and asked if everything was ok when we finished eating. Honestly that’s only checking on us once. I saw our food ready to go cooling down for a good minute while she talked to her friends. And talking about our fried mushrooms again, they were frozen which isn’t the best but it’s not the waitress fault so I let it slide until we got our meal.. then we finished our meal.. then I saw our mushrooms sitting cooling off 10 minutes after we got done with our meal which at that point we just got up to pay. She asked us if we wanted the mushrooms which I said no just take it off the check because I would like my appetizer before my meal not while I’m paying. I wasn’t going to leave a tip since she checked on us once and never gave us our appetizer but my kind boyfriend gave her a $2 on our $30 ticket and she gave him the dirtiest look I’ve seen in a while. I tried Hurley Huddle for the first time today. The place looks nice and the environment was pleasant. The staff was friendly for the exception of a minor awkwardness when the host addressed me. My guess is that she is new and learning how to greet people. My waitress was super friendly though! There is a pretty long wait here to get your food so if you are in a hurry or have a certain amount of time for lunch, I recommend calling ahead.

I ordered a pizza burger and was initially pretty excited about my choice until the burger came out. The burger left much to be desired. Warning: their special bun has small jalepenos in it! I didn't see that warning on the menu ( althoughI may have missed it) so I was shocked when I bit into the burger and tasted jalapenos. There is a mild heat associated with the bun which didn't go well with a pizza burger. The pizza portion of the burger wasn't what I was expecting either. It just wasn't appetizing. I ended up removing the bun and the garden and ate just the meat. On a positive note, the fries were good!

I love small local restaurants. I believe in supporting local, so I recommend trying this place. The place was pretty full so other people must love it. The burger just wasn't what I was expecting. Maybe next time I will try...

Disappointed

There were 5 of us, and we arrived at 1:45. The restaurant wasn’t very busy, but our waitress was extremely slow. It took about 10 minutes just to get our drink order. When she finally brought them, she asked if we were ready to order. We asked her to give us a few more minutes, but it was another 10–15 minutes before she came back—after chatting with another table for quite a while.

When we finally ordered, my wife specifically asked for no peppers on her quesadilla. Despite there only being a few other customers in the restaurant, our food took a long time to come out. While we were waiting, we noticed another customer came in, ordered, and received his food fairly quickly—and his waitress even sat down to eat with him—while ours kept saying our order “shouldn’t be much longer.”

After about 15 more minutes, our food arrived, and unfortunately, my wife’s quesadilla was loaded with peppers. The waitress offered to take it back, but at that point we didn’t want to wait any longer.

The food itself was decent, though not as good as it has been in the past. One odd note—the male kitchen worker was wearing what looked like very short shorts, which seemed unprofessional for a restaurant setting.
