H. Toad's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Missouri

What horrible management can be found at this bar and grill!!! As advertised on Facebook and more importantly the scrolling digital sign in THEIR parking lot, was advertised happy hour specials M-TH from 4-7, our group was lured in. The specials advertised half price drinks and appetizers. We were the only customers in the place. A very nice waiter came to the table and we wanted to know what the appetizers were. He proceeded to tell us the specials were only good on Wednesday’s. We told him about the sign in the parking lot and he said he told management to change it a month ago and it hadn’t been done. We asked to talk to the manager. This is the point the downward spiral began. She wanted to know where we had found the special online. We told her but pointed out the special was shown on the sign on the restaurant property. She told us she was new to management and needed to speak to her manager. Instead of her coming back to our table to tell us the best they could do was $2 off a draft beer or glass of wine, she sends the waiter back out. We asked again for the manager and explained we wanted the special advertised. When she would not honor the happy hour special, we said we were leaving. The manager tirade then began. The manager began telling us SHE had never been so disrespected by customers and even went so as far as to physically point at two of us and state we had been very rude to her. Never had any of us been treated by management in this manner. We went out of our way to make sure the waiter knew this was not in anyway his fault. I think we all know that a Facebook post and an electronic sign can be changed in a minute. As we were leaving we heard a bartender comment,” They are leaving?”. And yes….there were still no other customers at the bar and grill. We will never darken the door to this establishment and would never recommend it to anyone. We asked the manager if this the story she wanted us to tell how the restaurant didn’t stand behind their own advertising and the answer was obviously yes. A group of 6 of us on 9/14/18 6pm sat a table outside for food, drinks and to watch the band Super Jam play. We had overpriced bar food and one round of drinks , after that we had to go to the bar for additional drinks, server was not coming back and didn't put a bill on the table . At one point we did ask for more napkins she ran by threw some cocktail napkins on the table. Band started around 9:30pm we went to the dance floor with all of our personal items still at the table, I came back to the table after one song the server had put the tab on the table I had money out to pay my part, the server came up and told me I had to pay the whole tab I told her no but I was happy to pay my part, she told me I needed to get the rest of people off the dance floor to pay , I told her no they would be back to pay their part. A few minutes later while she was still at the table the rest of the party were back from the dance floor. She told them she was going to call the manager over which we told her great! A another woman came over and started saying we had to bill right then or they were calling the police. Mind you we had been sitting there since 6pm now 10:30pm she had plenty of time to put that bill on table while we were all sitting there, and we were planning on spending the rest of the evening there for the band and more drinks. After being treated like this we did pay the bill which was never a problem in the first place . I've never been treated this way in a bar/ restaurant before. Visited this place last night for a bachelorette party. Absolute worst experience I've ever had. Our waitress was Ariel and she was extremely friendly and sweet. Took about 20 minutes to get our drinks (there were a total of 7 of us) and 2 of the drinks were forgotten. Finally got all of the drinks and waited for our food.. Which took about 45 minutes. The food was a bit overpriced for what you get. Again, 2 of the meals we ordered were forgotten and we were repeatedly told they were coming. All of us that had already received our food waited for the other dishes to come before we started eating. One came out after a half hour and the other came out a full hour later. We made it clear to the manager that we were extremely dissatisfied with our service especially considering that all of our meals were now cold since we waited for our friends' food to come out. We were told that things got, "lost in translation" in the kitchen and she offered to take 15% off of our bill. We then explained to her that we had spent a total of 2 and a half hours at the restaurant and just now got all of our food. She was very apologetic and took 50% off as well as offering us a round of shots once she realized we were there for a bachelorette party. We paid our bill and waited another 20 minutes to get the change until we just gave up and left. The manager and waitress were very nice, but it just didn't make up for how bad our experience was.
