This is an update We had returned here and the buffet was under construction so that was not available. We ordered the chicken strip dinner and we got premade salads from the waitress. First we got almost no ranch for the salads. We were told they no longer had sunflower seeds for their salads. The waitress was beyond rude and when we asked a second time for extra ranch and the bacon bits that were requested when we placed the order. She took over 15 minutes to return with anything so I stood next to the back and waited for the stuff. I waited there for a while before even being helped there. After they gave me the ranch and bacon bits and I sat down to eat the salad the food was already coming out! Before we even had a chance to start on the salad. The fries were cold and the chicken strips were the only thing that looked good. BUT IT GETS WORSE! My husband started eating his salad and there was a DEAD FLY IN THE SALAD! I walked it up to the manager and she asked me if we wanted a new one? I politely told her no that we were not even eating there. I had just overheard them telling another customer that the salad was premade in the back and they could get her one. Which means the dead fly came out of the premade salad lettuce and they were going to continue serving this to people! We used to love coming here and I was so disappointed! This was the worst overall experience I have ever had at any Iron Skillet and we go to all of them.
The Buffet was not looking so great when we first arrived,But the lady was busy restocking everything very quickly. We ordered the fried fish and it came out very hot and was perfect. The fries were not hot that came with the fish although they were still warm. They weren't crispy at all but they were average and edible. We got the soup and salad bar with our meal and it was clean and fully stocked. There was a Turkey soup and a Beefy Taco soup. I had the Taco soup and it was excellent. Both soups were thick and full of meat and veggies. The only downfall on the salad bar was that when they brought out a fresh pan of cornbread I was assuming it would be hot. It was a little disappointing that it was ice cold right out of the refrigerator. Overall I gave this place 4 stars because it was clean and the server was polite to us. It was the same as most other iron skillets as far as the staff being heard gossiping about one another. And there were several foreigners in here with there cell phones on speaker and talking very loudly at their tables. I would have appreciated them being asked not to be disrupting the other...
Read moreI attempted to place a dinner order this evening and this was my experience. I walked up to the counter and was not acknowledged. So, I sat at the bar, and waited several minutes before the server came up and asked what I wanted to drink. I politely said "I would like to place an order to go...." and was immediately cut off mid sentence, handed a menu, and was instructed to go to the counter to place my order, then she walked away. I didn't even have the chance to ask if I could get my drink to go while I waited. I picked up the menu and walked over to the counter. After standing there for 10 minutes, the same server came up and handed someone their order, and walked away. Another server walked up, asked the gentleman in front of me if she could help him, and as soon as he began to place his order, the phone rang. She answered the phone, and carried on a lengthy conversation with someone while we stood there waiting. Finally, she got off the phone, took his order, and walked away! I stood there for several more minutes, watching the staff doing everything but take my order, so I placed the menu on the counter and walked out. This is NOT acceptable customer service! That phone call should have never been placed as priority over customers who are already in the restaurant. Neither of the servers said "hello", "how can I help you?" The only thing said to me was "what can I get you to drink " and "you'll need to go to the counter to place your order ". No smiles, no professionalism. I have worked in the service industry for many years. This dismissiveness is not how customers should be treated. As an OTR truck driver, the last thing I would expect after a long day behind the wheel is to be treated in...
Read moreI've been to many Iron Skillets n other restaurants at the Petros/TAs, this one took the cake. The poor waiter was trying his best explaining to customers, but He didn't offer to eat something else. I kept explaining to the cook and host that the chicken was tooooo hard and other food was out, it took an hour before the cook could put more chicken out. She still put more out that looked and tasted like it has been sitting in a warmer all day. Many customers didn't want the bar, others felt they didn't have a choice because of the deal. They could at least put it in some gravy if the wasn't gonna cook any more. I seldomly have to add salt, pepper, or seasoning on my food, unfortunately I did. The vegetables was old, microwaved texture, and not seasoned. The best thing was the spaghetti sauce, salad bar, and cookies. I kept noticing the cook putting old old dry food on top of old food and never taking the old spoon out. You can tell it was old because you never seen any steam coming from the food especially when they're taking plastic off the top of it. Pre-cooked😡😯☹😬. At the end, I received my free meal eventhough I wasn't satisfied but made it work. Need new cooks, manager, or someone that knows flavor and willing to keep the bar updated, especially changing out the serving spoons n forks after a certain time. Remember there are alot of customers coming through because of the size of the service at the truck stop. Many don't wash their hands and there is no hand sanitizer being offered unlike other Iron Skillets/restaurants. Should've 😦😥ordered the fish as I...
