Unfortunately this review is due to an individual and not the restaurant itself. Our first dealing with this Server was not impressive, she was not pleasant and the service was terrible. But we wrote it off as someone having a bad day. But today we were completely ignored for more than 10 minutes. No one sat us, so we sat ourselves and after about 5 minutes my wife ended up getting us our own menu's from the Bar. Our intended Server never even looked at us. There was no “I’ll be right with you” or even “hi.” We watched as she asked everyone around us if they needed anything, even a couple that came in after us. Keep in mind there may have been a grand total of maybe 6 couples there on the patio and no one inside. We were sitting almost in the middle of the patio area next to the water. Just prior to leaving (without eating) I had gotten another Servers attention (Hunter). It was then and only then that she came over to the table. She didn’t address us just Hunter about the table. Hunter ended up getting us drinks to go and was very apologetic. He took up the slack and was really trying to apologize and we were very appreciative of his efforts. Even after Hunter was getting our drinks she didn’t ask us if we wanted to order. There was no apology I didn’t see you. We’re a little hard to miss. My wife was the only person in the restaurant that wasn’t white ( Pacific Islander) and she was sitting in the seat next to the isle. lol I’m saying that comically. I’m not implying this was discrimination or racism. Just comical. You’d think between the Sesame Street game and being the only couple in the restaurant without anything on the table it would have drawn some attention to detail one of the times our Server walked by. Shorty Pants has been one of our favorite restaurants since we moved here 4 yrs ago. My wife is a Bar Manager on the Lake and a retired nurse so hospitality and customer service is her bread and butter. We both understand everyone has bad days. Today as we were leaving my wife overheard another couple saying to our Server “ hope you have a better day K.” I guess she’s had bad days the two or three times she’s waited on us this Season. It wasn’t because of us or making a fuss. I’m sympathetic but who’s to say I wasn’t having a bad day as well. The common courtesy’s of “sorry I missed you” can go a long way if you honestly missed someone. I’m hoping this is the first review she’s gotten of this nature and we can all write it off as bad timing on the times I’ve had her as a server. I can handle people having bad days, nervous kids or new servers but ignored completely is new.
I edited this review to leave out the Servers name. I left it at K. BTW I would have rather talked to someone in person instead of leaving a review but when I asked to speak to a manager I was told you didn’t have a manager on Duty today....
Read moreI was part of a bachelor/bachelorette party on 6/24/17. Earlier in the week, one of the bridesmaids called ahead to see if she could make a reservation for our group, and the restaurant does not take reservations, so she asked that the hostess take note that a group of 10-12 people would be coming at 7:30pm that Saturday, so as not to bombard the restaurant with a large party with no notice. When we arrived, the bridesmaid gave the hostess her name, and we were advised it would be a 45 minute wait (completely understandable for a Saturday during the summer on the lake). Half of our party went and sat on the steps leading down to the restaurant (in clear view of the hostess stand), and the other half of us asked to go hang out at the bar while we waited for our table. Approximately 40 minutes went by and the bridesmaid who had given her name went to check in with the hostess to see if any tables were close to being available, and the hostess, in turn, asked for her name again, and this time a phone number. The hostess then advised that it would be an additional 45 minutes, because apparently she hadn't added us to the list. The bridesmaid then asked to speak with the manager, who advised her that they had 'never had an issue with this hostess before' and 'there was no way we had been waiting for 40 minutes' (we had snapchats and Facebook updates that showed otherwise). Obviously, mistakes happen.. that's not an issue. What bothers me is that the management refused to take responsibility for the error, and wanted to push it off on our group, who had a) called ahead to let them know a large party would be coming b) tried to hang out out of the way but still in view of the hostess and c) spent money at the bar. This, to me, is very poor customer service. I'd advise anyone considering Shortypants to take their business two minutes down the road to Redhead's, who was more than accomodating of our group (ask for Ashton as your server,...
Read moreWe're apparently not the first to review based on being understaffed; this needs to be fixed. My review would be higher except that I can see recent reviews that have been ignored about slow service. Went on a Thursday. Busy but not crazy, and we were told 20 minute wait. We were not seated for a full hour. Fortunately we had fed the kids a snack just before and they were occupied for a bit looking at the boats and fish at the gas dock. We got seated in the back corner - not ideal but oh well - about half of the tables look out into the marina - great view of mostly the boats and a tiny bit of lake. Had to wait a bit more for our server to get to us, dinner came out slowly; our salad took 20 minutes and our appetizer came with dinner (nachos were good though) One of our plates was over $20 and was wrong - asked our server who was nice but hadn't been there long and apparently we weren't the only table who had trouble with the description of the meal and the contents of the plate being inaccurate. This was unacceptable; don't miss on the details of how the food is prepared and what is included with it. We had to wait 15 minutes after we were done to get our check - another party was waiting over 40 minutes to get seated while we were at ours. Staff seemed nice, but they need more people there - our wait should have been 20 minutes based on the number of customers and empty tables but management needs to correct the issue of understaffing. Also the poor servers and busboy have an awkward door to open with plates of food between the kitchen and most of the outdoor seating. A dual - swinging door or an automated sliding door there might be really...
