I started coming to this place when I learned of its existence and really haven’t been disappointed. The burgers always smelled good but I had never tried until yesterday, I am now hooked. I got a regular hamburger w/cheese, lettuce, tomato, & onion. Compared to a burger from other fast food joints the size is small but the quality better and the burger actually fit the bun. I would have preferred more lettuce & onion. Only 1 piece of lettuce and very little onion but the taste was still good. I also ordered jalapeño poppers. These things are stuffed with a cream cheesy filling and are delicious. I did not care for the ranch dressing but I am a die hard “Hidden Valley Ranch” kind of gal. I also ordered a large “Rachel” concrete. (This girl has excellent taste.) The concrete will feed me for 3 days. Lol The ice cream has always been delicious and with numerous ingredient options you can create your own or go with the employee favorites. All cleverly written out in color on a chalkboard. They also offer Hawaiian ice which I will try next, they look yummy. The ice cream cones are huge too, so yet just another thing to tempt you into trying this place. All total I spent 17.00 and some change. love the atmosphere here and the energy that is brought by the young staff. I would give this place a million stars if I could. So if you are just riding through, I suggest you give this place a try. The Malt Shop is not far from 44/141 and...
Read moreThe Malt Shop is my favorite spot for a sweet treat. The only negative thing I have to say is that I’m mad it took me so long to find it! I’ve lived in St. Louis for 17 years, and it wasn’t until about a year ago that I finally heard about it. Now, trust me when I say that it’s not because no one else knows about it because that is absolutely not the case, tons of people LOVE it! There’s a little too much hype around a certain St. Louis spot for ice cream. Don’t get me wrong, that place is good, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to pass that place by or exit the parking lot without a treat due to crowds, and I didn’t know where else to go because no one seemed to know. Well, I can tell you that The Malt Shop is the place to go, and I do NOT mean as a backup or last resort. They’re my favorite because they sell better-tasting stuff (seriously, the best chocolate malt I’ve ever had), AND they have some absolutely delicious burgers and fries, so you can actually have a meal here! Everyone is friendly, they’re efficient when they get busy, and it’s a cute spot away from 141 or any other busy road, so you can feel safe there with your kids. My family and I...
Read moreStopped by on a Sunday around 6:30p. Stood in line for 20 mins, then after I paid, was told it would be 20 mins to get the cheeseburger and fries I ordered. It took 40 minutes. It wasn't like they were short-handed, it was crammed with workers. The burger was tasty but very small, not much bigger than a slider. I ordered the large fry so I could share, but it was also extremely small - I thought they made a mistake and gave me a small, but I compared it with a small from someone sitting next to me, which maybe had about 8-10 fries in it. Everyone in our group mentioned how little their food portions were, especially for what they paid for it. Mine was around $13 with a root beer float. Needless to say I was still hungry when I left and ate something more when I got home. There's no prices on anything outside but when you get right up to the window, you can see a fast-changing price screen which you have to study several times to catch it all. Overall, a very pricey experience to sit on a parking lot with picnic tables and a porta-potty for very little food that took an...
