My better half surprised me with Valentines dinner at The Trophy room. We had heard good things. One of his friends recommend that he take me there for the holiday. Things quickly went down hill after we were seated. We had a 10 minute wait before our waitress ever showed up to ask if we'd like water. Um, yes, please. There was no regular menu, only an abbreviated menu of Valentines specials. Tomahawk porkchops for 2 with soup, salad and 2 sides, and dessert, (chocolate cake and red velvet cake) $140.00. Money is not an issue. Prime Rib and Lobster tails for 2, with the same additions. $160.00 So on and so forth. There were 5 options in all. We chose the Prime Rib and Lobster, only for her to come back and tell us they were out of lobster, but we could still get the Prime Rib with sides and dessert for $85, how would we like them cooked. Ok, fine. Jas asked for medium rare, I chose well done. A little crispy is even better. We were given salad after being there 25 minutes. A little while later we were told they were making more soup. When it was finally brought out, the portion was about 13 teaspoons worth. The other tables had a bread basket, so we asked about that. We were given 2 tiny rolls and very little butter. An hour and a half into supper, our steaks finally came out. His was still mooing and there are line cooks at Waffle House who couldn't screw up well done. What I got was closer to medium rare. Definitely still pink. By the time dessert finally came around, they only had chocolate cake left. Imagine that. We stayed to finish the cake, but I have to say, our disappointment with the food and service is an understatement.
Did I mention they were moving tables between the upper seating area and the lower area all but the first few minutes we were there. Our reservation was for 7:15. It was after 9:30 when we left.
As we were leaving, there was a sign on the door that said, "Leave us a review on Trip Advisor." You'll find this same review there! I think the people at the next table were of the same opinion. As there were leaving, the gentleman stopped at our table, smiled and said, "Good Luck!" Need...
Read moreI posted an unfair review because of personal opinions I had with management and certain kitchen staff, I have changed my review to reflect accordingly because the kitchen staff Chef Andy and Chef Larissa and the other line cooks are of the best food preparers in the entire lake of the ozarks region, the steaks are always cooked superbly , the fried calamari is always fresh daily and oh so good, the pizzas are some of the best for the money and always cooked to perfection, the fresh salads and home made dressings are a favorite of mine, Natalie one of the managers is so friendly and down to earth you feel right at home, Bartender he is always on his A game with great specialty drinks daily , and Chef Andy can make some of the most undesirable cuts of meat such as beef tongue taste like it was a piece of prime rib with eexcellent texture taste and spices to anyones taste pallet or food preferences, by far the best eats you will find in Camdenton and anywhere in the lake of the ozarks entire region. Leaving a bad review for spites and to no fault of the other staff is just poor choice and behaviors, my apologies to all of the customers who may have read it rather short and unfair because the service of excellence here no where resembles lake bar food or ambiance of the clean nicely furnished establishment at the Trophy Room, i have eaten almost anything on the menu and it never fails to please. if you get service that you may feel is not up to par simply speak to the manager and it will be taken care of accordingly, i know this for sure is the way they treat such incidents. Bad reviews here are more than likely for reason biased to any reality of dining here like people that nothing can please no matter what... i highly recommend eating at this great restaurant. my apologies to Chef Andy personally as i was wrong and and acting out of character and showing bad behavior for unknown reasons.Great Job my folks from Iowa were so pleased recently...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting The Trophy Room and it was a disappointment. First off, we made reservations for a large group. They took us to our table and it was not set up correctly. They only gave us 4 menus so we had to take turns to look at the menu. Our entrees did not arrive at the same time. Some had to wait about 5 minutes or so before their food arrived, so I don't know if the kitchen was short staffed, since that seems to be happening for many businesses these days. I ordered the calamari for an appetizer, and the Seared Scallops in Turmeric Buerre Blanc. The flavor and tenderness of the calamari was nice but it could have been a little crispier. Having eaten scallops in New York and New Orleans, I had high hopes for the market priced scallops at The Trophy Room, but was disappointed here too. They were smaller than I would have expected, gritty, and there was no sauce that I could see. Maybe the sauce had dried up on the scallops from sitting too long because the scallops and baked potato I received were lukewarm at best. Some ordered dessert. Here again we received 1 dessert menu, so again, we had to pass it around the table. I ordered the creme brûlée. The flavor was good, but I feel that maybe it had been cooked too long, since it didn't have the custard like texture. All in all, the furnishings and atmosphere of The Trophy Room were nice and the food was edible, but the food was not up to par for the price...
