Mya's Teriyaki — Restaurant in Mitchell

For a final meal before I leave this town, I decided I'd try the place that replaced a gas station. Decided to include a pic of the menu as everyone else seems focused on the fruit tea menu - its cool that they have that, but I came here looking for food, you feel? I've put 5 stars but I'm rounding up from 4.7. You'll see where that 0.3 went. I'll start by saying the food was good and plenty for the price. I don't eat much so I just got the bowl (beef broccoli & chow mein). That was sufficient for me. The place has a nice vibe & the lady was helpful in explaining the menu to me. Definitely have hope they'll become a nice option for food, especially since Burger King closed, few enough places to eat on the north end of Mitchell. That 0.3 goes into minor quips on a more personal level. Namely?... The seating. If I ever go anywhere and the chairs are not up to my unfoundedly excessive chair standards? I will comment on them. Because I care needlessly about chairs. They look good, don't get me wrong. Very fitting with the aesthetic of the interior. But I don't know about you, but when I get a full belly, I love leaning back and just letting my little food baby bulge out. And you can't really do that with like 8-10 inches of backrest. If there is minimal to no backrest? That is a stool, my friend. And I dislike stools. They upset me personally. And I can't even show off my gut in them. Beyond that though, again, high hopes. Mya's teriyaki has great potential! I ordered the combo plate which comes with two proteins and two sides. I ordered their orange chicken and their teriyaki steak. What I received was old, hard and honestly kind of flavorless orange chicken. Unfortunately I ordered my order to go & if I were eating there I absolutely would have said something to them nicely about it. Instead of receiving my teriyaki steak, I received teriyaki chicken which was actually pretty delicious. These aren't really that big of issues and it was only their second day open so they have plenty of room to grow and fix these things and I know that having been in the restaurant industry most of my life. I'm just being honest about my experience there, knowing that customers that are honest about experiences like this help things improve. The sides I ordered were fried rice and their mixed veggies. The fried rice was decent, lacked in flavor though. The mixed veggies would have been great if the broccoli was not undercooked. I am really not trying to be harsh this is just the reality of their food I received. I do look forward to going back and giving them another chance sometime, this will not deter me from their restaurant. I don't leave Google reviews of places. But this place is awesome. We were driving through, and stopped for dinner. Family of 5 shared a few meals for a super reasonable 35 or so bucks. Had a super tiny wait (would not have even noticed) and the worker brought us some sodas for our wait- defintely wasn't needed, as the wait was not at all above anything expected for food cooked this good! They also brought us egg rolls with our meal. Food- A+ delicious. Huge portions. Amazing flavor. Service- above and beyond. If we are ever going through mitchell again, this will be the stop.
