Little hole in the wall place, that allows smoking in the bar area, that everyone has to walk through if using the front door.
Great food HIGH DOLLAR prices, but food is worth it. Their shrimp is HUGE, and their clams are actual fried clams, not the 95% breaded kind at LJS. Ribeyes were amazing and in all honesty the steak and shrimp was a good, if not better than Texas Roadhouse.
Food came out wicked quick. The only downfall to this mom & pop tavern is they only accept cash or check. If you don't carry cash they will let you temporarily depart to go to an atm if you leave a form of ID or a person in your party there. This inconvenience would not be a problem if they had a posting on each entrance to let patrons know they do not accept debit card, giving them the opportunity to drop off someone, while another goes to get cash. Maybe they can even make a statement on Google search. It would save people the headache of leaving only to come back, after eating (which only angered my spouse as nowhere are you forewarned about this.)
Would be 5 stars if not for the previous reason and if we were helped before the people that came in a few minutes after we sat down. We sat there for 5 minutes waiting for a waitress to greet us and ask for our drinks, while those behind us were serviced ahead of us. The place was busy, so it is understandable that we were missed.
For 2 Ribeye dinners, ½pound of shrimp, fried clam appetizer, +tip was $100 (2 people)
Although it was some good eating, we may not be returning, which won't be an issue for this little hidden gem as they are always packed, because their food...
Read moreThe good and bad: Their steak, calamari, and shrimp is phenomenal! The waitress with shorter hair is very nice. With that being said my family and I won't be back at least until they improve some issues of theirs. We waited 2 hours one time we went. It was worth the wait we thought since it was a Saturday, table of 10 so that's expected. However, just my family of four have tried going twice. We got there at 3:30pm. They open at 4:00pm. We got there early like one of the employees told us to do. There were 7 families ahead of us and two of them including ours was a 2.5 hour wait. Also, inside, a friend of the people that work there asked to be seated ahead of all of us. They sat them ahead of 7 groups! We left. They are very popular. They have people coming to their establishment from all over the state, some even out of state. They have no paging system so that you can leave and be paged. They could at least text or call! Sitting in a parking lot or inside for 2 hours is not okay when you're in the middle of nowhere and because they don't call, text, or page, you can't even go to the dollar general up the road. If you try calling they will not answer. So, no call ahead seating or reservations either. Also, they only take cash so be prepared. It's apparent by several people other than myself that have pointed out these issues. And by the looks of the reviews on Google, they don't respond. Obviously, they aren't too concerned about complaints and don't care at all. But they will start regretting it when they keep losing customers. It's 2023, try to get with the time, at least...
Read moreI was just bragging about y'all on another review for a poor quality restaurant. I was telling the people to save their money and come here or head to Macon to The Smoke House. In the short, consistent quality unique flavors, interesting dive hole-in-the-wall atmosphere. When Mike owned it I went about every Thursday, I wasn't a noticeable customer, just an undercover foodie that appreciated his work. I've eaten every single thing on the menu. I will be honest, as a rule, I do not eat fried food, I hate the bland flavor of fried food, I know most love fried everything, it's just not for me. So I can't give an honest review of the fried food even though I've tried it all. The coating on the fried food is not overwhelming in thickness, so that was appreciated, the flavor of the food inside was able to come through, and it wasn't seasoned with anything. Okay, now for the good stuff, the shrimp is huge, boiled in seasoning and covered in seasoning to your taste (none, some, lots) and absolutely delicious, still my favorite and I have eaten all over the U.S. seeking out good eats. The steaks are cooked true to order as is pork chops and flavored perfectly, tuna steaks (man these are amazing), prime rib has a mouth watering au jus that surrounds it...honestly, this is one of those places that you can order anything on the menu and it will...
