My apologies for this long review. I just wanted to give as much information so that people can either give this place a try or not. I read the reviews prior to going and since they were all positive I gave El Patio a chance.
I was very excited about going to this place because Iām always up for trying something new. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment . I didnāt mind the long wait because it was expected. The server was nice but she didnāt know the menu. She was insisting that we order queso dip as an appetizer. My husband ordered ceviche, but the server said there was none. She then said try the queso, we ended up with queso since they didnāt have the choriqueso. The salsa that came with the chips was bland could and could use a little spice to it. After waiting for some time the server finally came to take our order. My husband ordered the combination plate; burrito(filled with tasteless ground beef), quesadilla (filled with chicken breast but they forgot the cheese)and a chile relleno(he was given the option of a bell pepper or poblano pepper) he asked for poblano. When the server came to give him his plate she said, āI know you asked for poblano but this is what they gave youā. Then walked away.
I ordered fajitas because you really canāt mess fajitas up. My food could have tasted better if it were not so dry and burnt. The menu says mushroom upon request so I requested mushrooms, and didnāt get it. When I mentioned it to the server, she said that they must have forgotten to add it.She said she could go ask for it. I told her not to bother. I ordered water with lemon, my husband ordered agua fresca jamiaca he said it was good. The server came to our table and brought him horchata which I assume was a refill . lol . I canāt make this up. My husband didnāt have the heart to say anything to her. Unfortunately, we will not be going back. I couldnāt take a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEdited for our visit tonight 6/28. Since our last visit went well, we decided to have dinner here again tonight. Had one chimi and 2 fajitas. Kind of disappointed overall. Service was spotty which there wasn't a reason for (there were only 2 tables full, we went early) my son had a horchata and is a quick drinker but they didn't ask him if he wanted anything else to drink until we were almost done, he was also going to order some dessert but they brought the check before he could ask. So right there the restaurant lost some money on this particular check. The fajitas weren't very charred despite being on a hot platter, usually they are charred on the grill first so they have a nice edge. These were not and seasoned with something rather sweet which was off putting. The chimi wasn't as good as last time either which was disappointing. Also, the first room was really messy with things all over the tables. Not sure what was going on. I have to say, had this been our first time we probably wouldn't have come back. Our first time at El Patio restaurant last night for dinner. So, first off, we moved to Mobile from Houston about a year and a half ago and tried a few Mexican places but none so far were close to the steak chimichangas we had there. These had crispy shells, meat a tad seared and had some light seasoning. The sides and sauce were also good. We loved that the chips were a thicker than usual and the salsa had a little bite to it. Service was attentive, Booths were comfy and the decor was fun and bright. There was a sign on the door and the waitress mentioned they don't have their liquor license yet, which was fine for us since we weren't going to have drinks anyway. Definitely will be back since they are literally the closest restaurant to our house. Glad to have found a place that makes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI did a to-go order, today. The first thing I noticed is how convivial everyone is. Everyone is pleasant with a genuine smile. I know these wonderful folks just opened up and there was just a moment where the gentleman was not quite sure how to proceed. It was just a fleeting moment and to be honest it was kind of charming. I hope nobody takes that as a complaint at all. They showed me to a place to sit and there I waited as I read on a book. One never knows how long one might have to wait. It was a surprisingly short amount of time, and all the while as I waited all of the pretty waitresses had a smile as they walked by. My wife and I both were surprised at how fresh and good everything was. In fact, it was the kind of meal where you know you need to stop or you might damage something but it was so good you really did not want to stop eating. I wanted to leave a good review anyway and so I looked at all of the reviews and everybody had been very complimentary except for one. And I honestly wish that there was a way to expunge that bad review. It is a pity that there are folks out there who actually look to be unsatisfied and that was the honest impression I got from it. To do that to a business that has just come into being with good people working as hard as they can to please all of their customers is awful. These wonderful folks need to keep doing what they're doing....
