K&D Seafood — Restaurant in Mobile

K & D Seafood is right by house. I’ve heard great things about this place but had never been. One reason I’ve hesitated is because I haven’t been able to reach them for a takeout order. I usually do takeout orders because I don’t like waiting in line when I walk in. I decided to ditch that to check them out. First off, I was right. When I got there the place was crowded and the line was practically out the door. I noticed there a couple people getting antsy waiting on their food. I didn’t mind the wait. I kind of made peace with the wait. While I was waiting, two customers who were together asked for their money back and left. There was only one cashier working. There were two cash registers so one might have been broken. Anyway the cashier was very professional and handled the busyness very well. I ordered the Snow Crab box with Cajun Lemon Pepper. I was going to order the seafood steam box but once I saw the snow crab I had to try it. I believe I only waited about 25 minutes to get my food. When I got home I was starving. The food smelled so good. It tasted even better. Everything was cooked well. The potatoes were perfect. The corn was so delicious with the Cajun Lemon Pepper seasoning. Though the sausage link wasn’t Conecuh it was still enjoyable. The shrimp had so much flavor. I don’t remember the last time I had snow crab but I don’t believe it was better than what I had here. Greatest Seafood restaurant in Mobile, AL. 'Nuff Said. As someone who consumes a lot of Cajun home cooking, their Cajun style seafood is absolutely delicious. Its always fresh.

If you are wanting to try K & D, HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting their $12 Steamed Box. Not to give the Owners any ideas lol, but this Steamed Box is worth $20 for the Quality and Quantity of the Shrimps you get, as well as the additional sides you get. You WILL be full afterwards, but somehow still want a little more.

The ambience of the restaurant is excellent, and I would feel absolutely comfortable sitting in the restaurant to eat. They double-check your order WITH you and in-person before you leave, and it is very appreciated.

Two Cons or problems, that makes me rate the service just 3 stars, which is moderate annoyances. I placed a pick up order one time for me and friends on the phone, talked with their employee taking my call who was very nice, came to pick up, and they acted like i never placed the order. They made me feel like I was a con-artist, as there was no apology and none of their staff claimed to have took my order. So I had to re-place my large order and wait for it to be finished.

The 2nd annoyance, is that this is a PACKED place, with ONE cash register employee taking orders, which is not very efficient. I really think there needs to be three, with at least one running a pick-up order side.

Overall, HIGHLY recommend. Though I had a bad experience calling in an order, it could have been a bad day for them. Therefore, you NEED to place a pickup order as waiting in line would be time consuming for you. Great food,...
