This review is for the diner and the lounge.
Diner: Rebekah and Melissa provide professional, top-notch service and Geets is lucky to have them both. They are knowledgeable about the menu/specials, extremely personable and pleasant, and quick and efficient. I look forward to seeing them and they’re one of the reasons I keep coming back week after week.
Geets diner hits on all the main reasons I love a diner: huge menu, copious servings, and friendly service. The place is clean, and the lighting is great. The bathrooms always look maintained. There’s a huge counter section and 2 different spaces with tables and booths. There’s enough room for everyone, even on busy days. The atmosphere is relaxed and you can watch TV too, if you’d like.
The meal I am mostly coming in for is breakfast. The specials, which are available M-F from 7AM-11AM, are, quite frankly, the best value in town. You cannot beat Geets prices, especially considering what you get. But more importantly: the quality is A+ and the servers take care to make sure your plate is correct before they bring it to you. If you have not done so yet, check out their “customer appreciation” breakfast special. Two eggs, choice of meat, potatoes, toast, unlimited coffee, and a small juice. What would you pay for this? At Geets it is $10.65, which includes tax. Read that again. Ask your server about substitutions too, because I know instead of “home fries” you can get fried potato cubes, grits, or even sliced tomatoes. It's good to have choices!
There’s a reason Geets has been opened as long as they have. There’s a reason it’s a landmark. I feel confident that if you’re within 20 miles of Geets, you’ve heard of it and have been there. If not, you need to go there now and experience it for yourself.
Lounge/Bar: for me, it’s all about service. JoJo, Shayna, Lisa, Paul, Stephanie, and Frank – you’re in good hands. They’re proficient mixologists, they know the menu, and they’re fast. You are getting stellar service with a smile.
The atmosphere is welcoming, too. There’s a huge bar with plenty of TVs and the outside patio area is now enclosed, virtually doubling the bar/lounge area. What’s been done with the space is refreshing to see. Once the double doors are opened, it’s like one big bar and lounge with plenty of space for everyone. Booths and high-top seating complete the layout.
As with the diner, the lounge offers exceptional food and drink at great value. Happy hour is from 3:00PM-7:00PM M-F and the specials on food and drink are fantastic. It would be wise to check the website and/or Facebook because they have specials during the week that you should take advantage of, such as Thursday night pizza and Wednesday night half-priced wings. A huge plus is that the diner menu is available in the lounge too. Another reason to check online is there is often entertainment, such as trivia night and live music.
Whatever you’re in the mood for regardless of time of day, Geets has something for you and you’ll be glad that you went....
Read moreAnd my family and I always love a good diner! This is our first time visiting Geets. They had a very nice selection of food. My husband got chicken Parm that was that was huge and delicious! Same thing for my daughters fettuccine Alfredo. There is enough for several meals. My son got a breakfast sandwich which I swear was as big as his head, L O L! He thoroughly enjoyed it. I got the Yankee pot roast special. It was super delicious and one of the sides that came with it was a potato pancake. For my other side I picked pickled beets. The waitress was very honest with me and she stated that the pickled beets were very good but she wasn’t a fan of the potato pancake but she wanted to know what I thought about it. When it came out it looked like no other potato pancake that I ever saw. It was more like a whole potato! It was mashed up potatoes reformed into a potato shape and I guess cooked somehow because it had a brownish crust on it. After I tasted it I knew what she meant. It was blend on its own but I had no problem adding salt pepper and butter to it and it was just fine. I let her know that and I appreciated her honesty. She was a very nice waitress and we had a nice rapport for the duration of our visit. Yes the potato pancake is not traditional but it was still very generous and tasty once I “jazzed it up”. Nothing wrong with that. That way everyone can season it to their preference. My family and I enjoyed our meal there very much and we would definitely come again. The only thing that we were a little disappointing was the soup. It was cream of chicken soup but it was very thin and didn’t have much flavor. Mine had a generous amount of chicken in it but even the chicken really didn’t have much flavor. This does not change How I think about the restaurant though. In addition, the restaurant itself was very neat as a pin and clean. If you get a chance, please stop in… You won’t be...
Read moreI used to love this place, but moved out of the area. Visited last Friday, 10/1/21, for a salmon dinner and drinks. Huge funeral party, so I entered the restaurant.. DID NOT COMPLAIN.. said I understood about the long wait. Was then told two more bartenders arrived and the manager escorted me back to the bar area, which made me happy.
The original bartender accosted me -- ostensibly apologizing, but her tone and words made it clear she was angry at me -- and I tried to explain.. I NEVER COMPLAINED!! Everything else was great, including my salmon dinner, but I made the mistake of telling another customer I thought the bartender was a b--- as we were speaking.
After that, a man who said he was the owner, told me I must leave... I had a glass of wine after work and another drink in my hand. This other bartender (early 40s.. heavyset) ran up to me and GRABBED MY DRINK OUT OF MY HAND to throw it away. The "owner" refused to return my money, but the same rude bartender who grabbed my drink, then thrust a $10 bill in my hands.
Once I returned home, I called police because I thought it was wrong for them to "steal" the drink I had just purchased and my only crime was calling someone a b--- who was incredibly rude to me to no reason. And I did so privately at a very loud bar, but apparently the patron was a friend of the bartender. Cop said the guy was lying to me, and the owner was "Sandy" and I should explain it to her because she would not tolerate this. Well.. I have left three messages and Sandy does not care, so I will never visit again... sad, because I really had...
