You need to be flawless if you want a 5 star rating. From opening the door and being welcomed by the hostess to walking out of the establishment. I don’t need to be pampered or want to be treated differently, but I am going out to your establishment to do exactly that, be pampered and treated differently. Yeah, yeah, first world problems. Every patron walking through the doors is an opportunity to impress and, dare I say, improve your business.
Before I render my full evaluation I need to comment on a missed glaring opportunity by The Last Chair.
I spent some time reading many of the reviews by both pleased and well, not so pleased patrons. What I didn’t see was a response by the restauranteur offering an explanation or apology for the experience. Like I said, you have to be flawless to get a 5 star rating.
Everyone at our table was happy with their menu choices and for the better part pleased overall. The price for 4 dinners and drinks was, in my opinion, very reasonable. What I took exception with was being told I didn’t have a reservation even after I showed the hostess their text reminder of “you have dinner in 30 minutes”. Alas, they misspelled our name and we were seared. 20 minutes later we were approached by a waiter saying he wasn’t taking any orders beyond drinks but reassured us that our waitress would be along soon. Death will be with me soon too but we said Thank you. The waitress arrived all flustered and said hi can take some orders? We ordered our food and I asked for another drink…. I had to remind her of my thirst again and she did return PDQ w/ a beer. Although never offered an excuse I felt as though it may have been her 3rd night as a wait staff member.
I had the classic burger with blue cheese. It was good. With the amount of cheese on the burger I can only guess there is a shortage of blue cheese at Costco. Not a mind blowing, got to go back kind of burger by any means but good. Everyone thought the food was as advertised and good. Not great but filled the hole. I mean, i make a better burger but I didn’t have to, i went out to be pampered a bit.
At the end of the day I will go back and give them another chance, it’s just how I roll. I won’t recommend The Last Chair but at this point I can’t and feel this is consistent with other reviews. Not that they sway my decision process. That said, maybe you should call 3-4 days in advance for a required reservation and see how it goes for you.

Read moreWe have had the pleasure of spending the week in the Whitefish area while enjoying the beauty of GNP. Our first night ever in Whitefish we stopped by The Last Chair and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and dinner fare. Generally when one is out on the road being a tourist ,one experiences very friendly service but so-so food.
Tonight, our last night before heading out we decided to go back to The Last Chair. What a mistake! Our dinners were excellent during our waitress was just plain rude!
After being seated it took over 15 minutes for someone to come out to serve water. 30 minutes for the waitress to visit our table for a drink order. (I found out beforehand it’s against Mt. law to go to the bar to order alcoholic beverages.) We decided to go ahead to order our dinner before the waitress disappeared from sight.
Much later the waitress brings out the food my mother in law and sister in law had ordered. Later she visits our table and asks how is everything? I said fine but we would like our dinner too! She replied, “I’m sorry you are upset but we are way behind on our food orders!” I said, “I’m not upset but you did ask if there was anything else we needed.” (By the way, why is it ever an acceptable excuse due to being busy? How about staffing your establishment?)
Later, my wife and I finally got our bison burger and salad. But my wife discovered that the “Forrest mushrooms “ were not added to our burger order. ($2 requested addition to our burgers.)
Waitress came back with hot mushrooms in a small tin cup. Came out later and said we would not be charged $2 for their omissions. (Another insult by our waitress.) I never asked for any service recovery!
Food was excellent. The “summer help” negated any resemblance of a fun evening we had planned for our last night in Whitefish! She was very unpleasant and obviously not happy to be...
Read morePoor information about allergies as I have several severe allergies. Menu is extremely inaccurate which is not helpful for people with allergies. But servers were helpful figuring out what was in the entrees. They WILL charge you for masks and for more than you need. The cooks were not wearing masks in the back and when we asked why they didn’t need masks our waitress, Olivia, responded with our cooks are professionals. I guess that means they don’t breathe/touch any of the food they cook. I did have my mask and I did wear it but they were extremely RUDE to the rest of our party. Upon telling the hostess we got charged for 4 masks when we only needed 3; she THREW another mask on the table instead of refunding us and said,” well it’s a mandate in Montana in all buildings.” My question is why were the cooks cooking EVERYONE’S FOOD exempt to the mandate? I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants to have a peaceful afternoon or to anyone who has allergies because they are not knowledgeable about what’s in their dishes and are extremely likely to...
