Mama's Café — Restaurant in Montello

They were pretty busy and we had a table of 7 upstairs. Our waitress took long bringing beverages and we waited over an hour and a half for our breakfast. When our food was brought it was in intervals so we didn't get to enjoy our meal together before leaving town and 3 of 7 orders were incorrect. The waitress offered to take one of the mistakes off the bill, and at that point the person didn't even want the rest of the meal because we had been there over TWO hours. We had sent the kids to the kid zone twice already and more than half of the games didn't work/weren't plugged in.

The owner did give the kids each some money to try to keep them busy in the kid zone which was very kind. And the food that we got was good (minus the bacon).

BUT I was the last one to leave with two of the kids after someone paid the bill and heard the waitress in front of other patrons and staff talking about how she had even taken the $7 meal off and the owner had given the kids money and all she was left was $5 which I think is bull. Started working today and got fired 5 hours later. Its a very toxic environment and they will not train you the right way, that explains why they are so short staffed. Girl training us didn’t train us but just threw stuff at us and told us to do it. I don’t recall thats what training is. They use bare hands when handling your food not ONCE did I see anyone wash their hands before touching food. Also you will get yelled at for messing up the smallest thing. They only wash their dishes with a jet setted sink. The “trainer” would only take orders and make us give them their food while we cleaned the tables, took the dishes, refilled cups, etc. while she got to keep all the tips. Also would not trust the syrup containers since they use the dirty table rags sitting in dirty water to clean the lids of the syrups. I'll never go back to this restaurant. My husband and I went in October 2021 and my debit card was charged twice. We went in same day to tell owner that it was charged twice and she said yes that happens one will be put back into account. I told her I hope so since we lived hours away from there and were leaving for home next day. I waited days watching account for both charges to end up coming out of our account. I called to talk with owner and waited days to have contact with her. When I finally spoke with her I explained what happened and she told me she would send check in the mail to my address. So after a month of never receiving the check I called to speak to her again and she confirmed address to tell me she was sending it.
