About five minutes after we sat down at the counter on memorial day for brunch, the very unhappy blonde cook looked at us and then, shaking her head, said to her partner cook "I thought people were supposed to eat BBQ today." Our apologies for giving her a reason to have a job. Five minutes later, we were greeted by a server and told her to take her time cleaning up a table. While we waited for her to finish, we had to endure the blonde cook's snide comments and bad attitude. Fortunately, a table opened up and we moved. We were not looking forward to this experience at all. Then the server, Carrie, came to our table and was sweet as can be. She was obviously running ragged, but did not take it out on us. We placed our order and mine was completely wrong. Before she even set it down, she let us know that she had already noticed and requested it be re-done. Carrie said she was going to cook it herself but, whether she did or not, it means a lot to me that she noticed and had already taken action to correct the situation. I didn't have to be put on the spot with complaining. When it came back the second time, it was perfect and delicious. Carrie continued to exceed our expectations when she spoke to the manager and removed my meal from our ticket. Her customer service was outstanding and she earned every bit of the tip we gave her. Read moreNormally it's not too bad but this visit was probably one of the worst. When we walked in one of the servers was sitting at the bar area and just stared at us when we walked in. I asked if I could take the booth next to me at the time she just scowled and said sit where ever you want. Definitely could tell she was not in a good mood. Thankfully she wasn't our server. When we finally get a server, she seemed to be the only one that was working. The issues were waiting for food, getting half of it and having to wait for the rest, when food was brought out she was carrying another customers food and the gravy got in my mac and cheese, she noticed and took it back only to bring back the same dish with gravy still in the mac and cheese, then the menu didn't match the meal I got-it showed popcorn shrimp and I got large shrimp which I don't eat but still not the worst thing. The waffle comes out with a long hair baked into it and perfectly wrapped around the plate. The owner was there but he didn't come out and the server was left to deal with it. Been a restaurant manager before and I know that server should not have had to deal with all of the issues herself. She did take off my mac and cheese and $5. Manager sat outside smoking with the bar crown most of the visit. No clean dishes or silverware because nobody would wash any. I will definitely not be back. Used to be a good spot for late night food but now it is a joke. Owner John Roper has been told about these problems many times and also has a camera system that he can watch at any time but nothing changes. When you pay garbage wages, you get garbage help. Would you go work all night for no tips because evey customer is pissed?? Then get paid $2.13 per hour to do so???
