Long story short, Very nice inside, Good food and service, Ok pricing, weird hours of operation. Overall a good pricy quick night out, a great dining experience in Monticello.
Me and my girlfriend went and sat down and were given a platter with bread and gravy, which looked smelt (and tasted) amazing, we were skeptical but this showed us we would at least have fun here. We ordered fried pickles and a sushi roll as an appetizer, and were delightfully surprised, the pickles were large, crisp, and served with sauce, and the sushi roll was very flavorful, served with sauce, and warm (usually a sign of freshness). Both were very good. she ordered a Steak (6 oz i believe) and i ordered chicken romano with fries and baked potato (pictured). I felt her steak was small for the price, around 20 dollars, but was still good. My food was delicious and i even took the sauce home in my togo box, potato and fries were good too. The waitress was very kind and helped us with everything, although personally i find it strange having someone get me sauce and such, it was still kind of her.
Pros: -The food wasnt “bad” by any means, definitely very good. -Kind staff -Alot of options -very nice decor and design. thoughful -clean bathroom -food plated tastefully
Cons: -Pricy, (bill was around 100 for a few items, each thing was on average 17 bucks) -we went when they opened at 5 pm, they could get busy later in the day and have worse service -Theres a few confusing spots in the location, theres a salad bar but im unsure if its allowed for use, and a sauce bar that i feel the same way about. Feels wrong asking the waitress for everything little thing so i do wish it was elaborated on, but i get its a new place.
Four stars because of pricing and things that can be fixed with time, Will go again but only on very special occasions because...
Read moreSaltwater opened recently and the first time we went the food and service was phenomenal. However, the most recent visit was not great at all. We had to wait for over an hour and 45 minutes before the food hit our table. We saw others leave after not getting served timely, but wanted to wait and see. The issue was the food. My 20oz Ribeye was super thin, overcooked and lukewarm at best when I got it. It was very sad looking and the flavor was not great. Last time I got a steak it was cooked perfectly and the flavor was perfect. this thing was just sad. I took two bites and just couldn't finish it.
My son's chicken was overcooked and the "grill marks" were so burnt he said it made it taste really bad. My daughter got a cheeseburger (plain) and she didn't like the taste. I tried a bite and it had absolutely no flavor. Just cooked hamburger meat; no seasoning what so ever, not even a little salt and pepper.
My wife's porkchops were good to her so that was a plus. The waitstaff were very nice and courteous and tried to keep things flowing.
The final straw though was when I let the manager know that the food was not great and the wait time was way too long, she got very rude with us. I wanted to simply comp the steak since I didn't eat it and pay for my sides and the rest of the food. She started making excuses about being short staffed. This is not a customer issue, but a restaurant issue. They had 3 folks in the kitchen cooking for about 12 tables and a few to go orders. As a military cook, I can assure you that is sufficient staff to get orders out in a timely manner. We ended up paying full price for the meal, but we will never return as a result. We did tip the waitstaff as it wasn't...
