Riss's Place — Restaurant in Montoursville

I've heard such good things about this place so we decided to try it. I got a hot roast beef sandwich with gravy and fries. The roast beef sandwich was on bread that was the texture of rubber. It was very tough. The "roast beef" was chopped up steak like a cheesesteak without the cheese. It was chopped up so fine you couldn't eat it like a sandwich because it would just fall out of the rubber bread. The gravy was so salty, it was almost inedible. No gravy flavor; just salt. The French fries were the shortest fries I've ever seen. They were ALL an inch or less long. My wife got a black diamond steak salad. She said it was good. Her fries were also incredibly short. Ordered from here for the first time last evening, September 10, 2023. We got 3 large subs, one each of Italian, steak and ham cosmo. Oh my goodness, our subs were so delicious! The buns were fresh and the subs were full, not skimpy. My son-in-law picked up the order so I can’t comment on atmosphere, but the phone service and pick up exchange was excellent. Ordered a Philly cheese steak, got a plain meat and cheese. Which is wasnt bad. But a Philly or no, the steak, cheese and toppings need to be blended together better. I'd still rate it higher than Geno's in Philly. The Cole slaw sides, have a lot to be desired for $2, the portion is about what you'd get thats included...
