Each and every time we visit the UP the first stop over the bridge is Suzy's pasties! A few times we have gotten there before it opened so we patiently waited for the shop to open. Her pasties are Second to None both on this side of the bridge and in Mackinaw City. The crust is so light and Flaky and they are filled to capacity. These pasties require no gravy and can be eaten by hand as the crust is not hard, dry and extra heavy at the edge. During our recent visit we stopped there on our way to Paradise with the plan to stop back on our way home a couple days later. Unfortunately Suzy's is closed on Wednesdays so keep that in mind when planning to stop by. We will be back in the UP in September and our plan is to stop by, to and from our destination, and to bring a few home with us! Please don't take this recommendation lightly as we have tried every pasty in the area, both with and without gravy, and Suzy's Pasties are...

This experience was just okay. I wouldn't call it a 5 star experience. It was $7/per pastry and was filled mostly with potatoes in both the chicken and beef there was a very small amount of protein. I'm not sure if it was a great value for what we got. I'm uploading photos.

With that being said, this location has a nice patch of grass for the dogs/kids to burn some energy before getting back into the car. Apparently it is a must have experience when you're in this part of the country....

I stopped in on my way back to Mackinaw City from Tahquamenon Falls and bought two pasties: one hot (to eat back at my hotel) and one cold to take with me for my drive home the following day. Contrary to "The Pasty Guy's" review, I found Suzie's veggie pasties to be quite good. The service was excellent and the lady (Suzie?) who waited on me was very friendly and polite. I'm a fan. In years past I've gone to Hunt's Mackinac Pastie & Cookie Company but had a really difficult time finding their new location, then only to find they were closed. (If I remember correctly they used to be right on Huron Street--much more accessible.) At any rate, I'm glad I stopped at Suzie's. If I'm ever up in the area again I'll...

Stopped in for an early lunch on our way out of town. You order at the counter & take it to go. Tho there are a few tables outside, if you simply can't wait to dig in. I ordered beef with gravy & the hubs opted for the chicken with gravy. The prices were reasonable & service was fast. We paid cash to avoid the credit card fee. We enjoyed both, tho the beef seemed more flavorful. Neither of them were overly salted, which we were concerned may be an issue. The crust was dense in some areas, tho it had a good flavor. I'd certainly stop again. We also grabbed fish dip for later or gifting.

If you come from the lower peninsula, cross the bridge and come here for pasties! They have vegetarian option available! We came as a large group of 5 and it was our first pasties ever. So good we all took another to go for the road. I think this shoppe is super cute and the pasties were super yummy on the road. Cute yooper postcards are also available which are super punny and had us all cracking up. There is also a small shop there selling souvenirs and goodies. The jerky and smoked fish available is a perfect snack for later!
